Dogs From Work

Postby iheartmydog on Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:28 pm

I thought I'd make a thread for this. :D I'm working as a assistant dog trainer at Haven Humane Society and I'm going to start taking pictures of dogs I take out. Soooooo I'll post them here. and share a little info on them.

First off is Tosca (I posted about her in another thread, but I'd feel bad leaving her out of this one.)
For info on her personality and more pictures go here,
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7333 :)

These are pictures taken by shelter staff, I just started taking pictures today and only had time for Tosca. But hopefully after this the pictures will all be taken with my camera. (I'll also be sending them to the shelter to put on Petfinder)

This guy didn't have a name yet, still trying to think of a good one (suggestions welcome). He was getting a bit kennel depressed so I took him out, he is super nice. I have the dogs sit (if they've been taught it, if not just be calm) before we go through doors. He did fantastic even with all the dogs barking at him. He loooves to play fetch as well, not good with small dogs. And a affectionate lug.

Ajax, who is totally 100% puppy (that's an understatement) he gets super excited about things and zoomies galore during games of fetch. But despite being sooooo excited he's very responsive and eager to train. He's a very nice boy. His ears are the cutest thing too.

Cel, I saw Tosca earlier and she is lovely.

I love the other two as well. The "Big Lug" looks like he just needs a loving, safe, home to call his own. If I didn't have small dogs, and lived on some land (at least 2 acres, preferably more) I would take him. He is beautiful.

Ajax is as cute as a button. I noticed he has the perfect black spots on his lips for kissing! :D "Kiss me *right here*" is what I see when I look at that sweet face. His ears are also lovely. 8)

I hope each of these dogs find the perfect, safe, forever loving homes they deserve!

Ajax is adorable! The big lug is very handsome I instantly thought of "Monty" when I saw him. Tosca looks very smart, she is so pretty! I don't know how you can work with those dogs and not take everyone home with you at the end of the day :D

Cel, I see what you mean about the eyeliner, which is hilarious and adorable. I am still stuck on the perfect kissing spot on Ajax's mouth. Oh, I would kiss that face!!! :D The ears are also scrumptious. 8)

I agree with Amy that it would be hard to say goodnight every night and not take one home. However, I know your house is full and that is not possible, so bless you for doing what you do!

First dog I took out is a female, she's a scruffy dog but more of a medium size, around 40lbs. Not sure on her age, or name. (They were cleaning the inside part of the kennels, that's where the information is) She's been at the shelter since August, nice dog but she needs to get out soon. When I took her out today she did soooo many zoomies around the yard. She's probably around a year old.

Next I took out Angel, a sweet Pit Bull mixed with something with longer fur. Everything about her makes you want to saw "awww" she's a cutie and a total sweetheart. She's very sensitive to your voice and holds back on a lot of things. Such as playing ball you can tell she wants to, but she held back so I played around with it a bit and finally got her chasing it. She'd get flinchy when she brought it back though. :( Hopefully we can get more confidence out of her and get her to be herself.

Just look at that face

And a big, I mean biiiig boy that came in recently. When I can, I want to take him out and work with him. He got scored for families 8 and up (Which is fantastic, usually they mark big dogs for homes 12 and up only just because they're big and may knock kids down.) But he seriously looks like he's pushing 100lbs, maybe 90 if he lost weight. (Name suggestions welcome!) I have to wait until they've been at the shelter 4 business days before taking them out, after the 4 business days is up they're the shelter's property. (Which a annoying rumor is going around that we euth them after the 4 days. We've had dogs for 6 months, and this is a high population shelter)
When he stood up, he was much much taller than me. (I'm about 5,2)

And this sweet gal is who I plan on taking out tomorrow, she's quite fearful and I don't know much about her otherwise.

I loved the happy, tongue, running photos of the first dog. She is a cutie! The joy on her face to be running free in the grass is just beautiful. :D

All of the dogs are lovely. ♥

I can understand the "rule" about 4 business days, but imagine how stressful that must be on these dogs? Bless you, and all of those at the Shelter, for doing what you do. I hope all of these wonderful friends find loving, safe, forever homes where every dog deserves to be.

Yeah, the 4 business days rule is law, the shelter has no say over it. :( It gives the owners a chance to come get their dogs before they're adopted. Thank you Deb, I appreciate the kind words, the dogs really are lovely. I think those two have pretty good chances, just need the right home to come along.

For all of the dog owners who might be looking for lost dogs, I think the 4 day rule is great. It's a shame the dogs can't be interacted with during that time though, if they are found to be safe.

I really enjoyed seeing each dog, and was so glad to read the first two have been adopted out. Hopefully the others will be adopted just as quickly, they certainly are cute enough!!

Love that white face and I love the kissy mouth too

I totally fell in love with that last little girl. I would love to show her what true human love is and wipe her fears away.
What a sweet beautiful girl.

Good job you!

Oh, my bad I didn't explain. They can be interacted with, I just cannot take them out and work with them because I'm not over 18. Staff may take them out before that time, and people can put adoption holds on them, but can't actually adopt them until the time is up. And thank you, I'm excited to take that girl out today.

I feel for the first one with the zoomys I love the scruffy ones . Where did you say you lived?

All the dogs are great . That last big boy is really pretty also.

I have 2 acres it seems 4 dogs wouldn't be to many now just to get OH on board LOL!

These dogs are located in Redding,California. I know they've traveled down to Sacramento in the past in order to meet the adopter half way there.
I found out the scruffy dog's name is Crush.

I'll have pictures ready to go when I get home from school. :)
