Thanks, everyone! Well, I did like cats, but I like them MORE now! LOL!
I won $20 at poker, which wasn't too bad, considering there ended up to be only four of us! One got sick, and the other one was hung over. I thought that was a poor excuse (the hangover, not the puking!) but whatever. Brandi also forgot to buy the birthday cake that Paul asked her to get, but that was alright too. I would have just eaten it! The local Save-On Foods store makes the most decadent, luscious, dense, chocolate truffle cake that is to die for! Yeah, maybe I'm a little disappointed! But dinner was very good. I had the catfish schnitzel (?!) which was just delish, and they made me a little "birthday" dessert, which was a chocolate beet cupcake, with cream cheese frosting, and whipped cream on top, sitting on a coulis of fresh blackberries and a drizzle of milk chocolate sauce. Very good! And came with a burning candle, the waitress and the bartender, who sang "Happy Birthday", along with Brandi and Paul! LOL!
But the highlight of the day was my birthday card from Paul. We had planned on going over on the 3:00 ferry, but decided to get the 5:00 instead. Since our reservation was at six, Paul didn't have time to get to a store to buy a card as he had planned. So, apparently, at 4:00 in the afternoon, Paul was madly constructing his latest masterpiece. Without further ado, my card:
First, the envelope, responsibly recycled from a previous event's giving:

Next, the front of the card. I especially like the addition of the crow in the trees. We have a lot of crows here.:

Inside. This one was a little tricky, as it's a do-it-yourself, fill-in-the-blanks, kind of affair:
(I don't know why Photobucket has cut off the side, but there two blanks after "Happy" as if he can't remember, or doesn't want to specify, the number!)

And, of course, the trademark on the back, including suggested retail price. Aren't I a lucky girl, to be worth such an expensive card?:

He's in the kitchen right now, making his famous "Paul's cookin' tonight, so we're having Shake'N'Bake chicken, mashed potatoes, and canned corn for dinner" dinner. It's always very good, too.
Thanks again, everyone! It's truly much appreciated!
