Hi,
I love your Remi and Monster pictures. They are a darling pair. I need to get one of my cameras going so I will have photos so everyone can see my sweet little Cooper. Your Pug is adorable and I can see how good it is for him to have a companion. Pug hugs to Remi and Monster from Pug Mini Anderson Cooper in NY~

Is Cooper a big time cuddler? Monster is always wanting to cuddle, mostly when it gets cold. He will only play fetch if there is a hug in it for him. 8)

I just love this look she gives me.
Image
Remi tries to fit in the cat bed all the time. She use to fit in it and would take it from the cats all the time. I don't think she understands how much she has grown since then. Anyway, she likes to lay on pillows or blankets like this while she chews on her bones. Probably because it is more comfortable. What a smart puppy.
Image
After I took the above picture she brought the bone to my lap to chew on it...along with a lot of drool. She always tries to get me to hold the bone for her while she chews on it.
Image
Remi LOVES to tug. So why does she have only one tug toy that she has basically outgrown now?
Because she destroys them so quickly. I'm not expecting this one to last all that long because it was cheap but she's so happy to be able to tug again.
Image

Also her limp seems to have gone for the most part. I see her do a causally limp every now and then but it's seems to be fading.

I love the new pictures, especially the one with the slobber on your leg, and Monster all snuggled up against you and Remi! They are such a pair. :D

I wouldn't worry too much about Remi having a slight limp from time to time. It could be due to any number of factors, and if it's so slight that you can barely tell which leg is giving her the limp, then I wouldn't worry. Just getting up and down, or stiffness after a long nap, or damp weather can cause these things. Perhaps some days, she runs so much that she makes herself sore. In time, she will learn to listen to her own body, as she is apparently doing while laying on the Cat bed chewing her bone!

You are right! It does look like she hasn't realized that she no longer fits. 8)

Haha! AWWW! So cute! I just love these photos!
Your backyard looks so pretty with the leaves on the ground and of course with the stunning Miss Remi in the pic! :D
HAHA! That's funny! What a lazy girl that doesn't even want to hold her own bone!!! Well Saffy is the same too...

Tug is great. Letting a dog chew up a tug toy? Not so great. I let Kiba gnaw on his rope toy (much like the one in your pic) because I never dreamed that such a tiny dog could harm himself with such a big rope toy. Surprise! He managed to winkle out the threads, one at a time, until he had an internal blockage, made up of strings.

May I suggest that you don't let Remi play with her tug toys UNLESS you are playing as well? Play is fun, but put the toys away once play is over. Will save the toys (bonus!) and save any accidents as well.

Phyrie, I know. Her tug toys (and any other toy that she will just chew up) go up where she can't get them and she only gets to play with it when someone plays with her. If she has a chance to chew on it for a second she will have the rope broken in half, although she never eats the rope.
Some times she will actually chew on the toy while she's tugging and it can be very subtle. I tell her to drop it if she tries just chewing on it while tugging and have her wait a bit before starting the tug game back up. If she keeps trying to chew on it the game is over and I give her one of her bones.

OK, that's good. I read "she destroys them so quickly" and assumed she was chewing on them.

Phyrie, Oliver always loves his rope toys and never had an issue with blockage. However, there was the odd BM that had "strings attached".  The funniest was the time the OH picked up some string wondering what on earth it was, only to discover a "present" at the end of it (in those puppy days). That still makes me laugh.

I agree though...better safe than sorry. Oliver doesn't even play with his rope toys anymore, but they did save our home from utter destruction, as well as the Lake House back in the day. Henry fortunately never took to the rope toy like Oliver did, but then he doesn't destroy toys the same way Oliver did. Every dog is different, and the bottom line with any chew toy is monitoring.

Sorry to thread hog, no pun intended!

She has already destroyed the tug toy.
Well not totally destroyed. It started off with two big loops of rope with a ball in the center holding it together. Just by the look of the ball I knew it was going to get ripped off rather quickly and it did. So we now had one big loop of rope and it lasted like that for about a minute or two because the only thing holding it in a loop was some tape. Tape, really? Why would they put tape on a dog toy? (we didn't know about the tape because the ball was hiding it.)
Now we just have a long rope which Remi still really loves.

Yesterday when I brought Monster for his evening walk this dog that lives down the street got free and she followed us--well maybe I followed her because she stayed in front of us. Anyways I kept an eye on her and thought maybe if I go back to her house she would come with us which she did. No one was home though and she disappeared on me while I was knocking on the door. So I continued on our walk.
Once we were on our way home that dog came running up to me again and no one was still at home and she ended up following me home. While she was coming home with me she would just walk in the road and stand in the middle while cars were coming and not even flinch! And of course she didn't listen to me when I would call her over (When she gets loose when her people are home they will just sit there calling her name over and over. So now her name means nothing to her. In order to get her to come to them them have open the car door and ask if she wants to go for a ride.)
When I got Monster inside I was trying to figure out what to do. I was thinking about leaving a note on their door saying that I have her and come get her when you're home but she is EXTREMELY hyper and would have been too much for Remi. Her tag didn't have a number just her name and address which obviously wasn't much help since I already knew her name and where she lived and no one was home.
I eventually decided to bring her back to her home and see if anyone came home at this point because it was almost 7pm. I tried to get a leash on her but but I didn't get it on her in time because she saw some deer off in someones backyard and ran after them. I couldn't find her after that. No one was home still either. I plan on stopping by there some time today and see if she went home. I'm pretty sure she did because she gets loose quite a bit as they said to me before and she always comes back. That however doesn't mean anything because anything can happen.
I should have just put her in my backyard and put a note on their door.

When I let Monster in the house Remi saw her and my sister said she was crying the whole time I was out there after that. Remi wanted to play with her so bad!

SNOW! Is it just me or does it feel like this whole winter business just happened?

Monster's not impressed. (this is also his winter "bed")
Image
He still loves his jammies. 8) I wonder if he would like little booties for his feet....
Image

There's about 3 to 4 inches of snow outside now. I wonder how long it's going to stick around. I didn't get any good pictures of Remi but she loves that the snow is back. The only thing she likes better than tracking something is tracking it in the snow, she just gets so exited when she sees the tracks in the snow and she just HAS to run to each little foot print and sniff it.

Recently walking Remi has been a bit more work. Since it gets dark earlier at her evening walk it's dark and she gets a bit scared at all the lights when I walk her up toward the park ( you can see the highway and gas station easily). What do I do when she starts to freak out about them? I don't just not want to go that way because she likes to go to the park and it would cut down drastically on where we could walk.

Also another thing is the deer. I'm not talking about the living deer that one would see running around, we do see quite a few of those however they are not the problem. It's the house that we pass that have recently got a deer while out hunting. She will not pass these houses! She will growl and bark at them but will not pass them! We have to basically cross the street to keep going so I guess she does pass them but it takes quite a bit of effort on my part.
How do I know they gotten a deer? With one house I saw the deer in the back of their pick up and Remi sniffed at the truck and began barking and growling at it.

Oh yes, snow. I can handle the snow it's the ice that I hate.
The snow has been melting and I believe it will be all gone tomorrow though.

Here's Remi the day after it snowed.
Image
While outside she always has snow on her face.
Image
She got a new toy......an Orangutang! When I saw it I couldn't pass it up, I believe she's getting a primate collection.

Some videos:
Remi and Monster playing on the couch- http://youtu.be/HC76DSagUAI
Remi and Monster playing with Ziggy the cat - http://youtu.be/TIgG51oTcqI
I missed the part where Ziggy was actually playing back. After he stops playing with her she just barks and barks which is of course basically the only time when she barks this much..

Also currently....

I'm in Monster and Remi heaven! Those are great videos. I'm glad you mentioned that Ziggy actually plays back from time to time as I imagine it is rather shocking to be minding her own business and have two dogs crashing her action. :D

Remi is such a playful girl! I love the snow on her face. Both of them look so snoozy and comfy on the couch together, taking in the sunshine on a cold day. I suspect that was after the "rasslin'" match! (Elliot is going to love these!)

Ziggy is a male. Remi is the only female animal we have. :D

Speaking of the kittycats my sister got them an early Christmas present. A cat tree!
Ziggy likes the high spots where as Eskimo won't go higher then inside the top box but he loves the scratching posts. Monster actually some times sleeps on the base. If only the heating vent was out farther then it could fit in the corner all the way, but I guess it's fine.

Eskimo also has taken a liking to Remis crate. He sleeps in it most of the day now and when it comes time for the dogs to eat Remi usually eats in her crate so the first day he took over her crate she was freaking out not knowing where she was going to eat.

Monster in his cubby.

On Sundays Remi likes to help my sister go through the paper and clip coupons and find good deals.
Image
Eskimo loves to help to but I didn't get a picture of that. He dives under all the papers and attacks everything and anything.

Ashley, The cat tower is great!
And I love the pic of Eskimo Jo in Remi's crate, and the next on where Monster has joined him is so adorable.
Remi doing her extreme couponing is too funny...LOL!
