Brenda, you are so right about someone else's loss being your gain, and more importantly, Luke's! :D

I totally agree with Phyrie, but I do know some people won't understand. That just comes with the territory while they buy their pre-packaged meat in a grocery story. :|

I also noticed it was a Doe. Is that meat more tender? I know "Venison" is considered a delicacy and while I've had some in the past, I've not had a great deal of it. What do you do with the hide, if anything?

I love that Luke has a job and this is a great one. Like Phyrie hunting for your family needs is great, trophy hunters I have a hard time with. We too live in a big hunting area and a few of our friends are out on the hunt as we speak.

Luke looks so happy doing what he is designed to do!

Deb the smaller the deer the tender the meat. If a huge buck walks under his stand he will shoot it but I prefer the doe meat , bucks have a stronger flavor.

Thanks everyone , Luke does seem to love his job.It feels like he's been here forever , he's such a good dog . Lucky"s even calmed down.

Awwww that is so nice to hear that even Lucky has settled. I think Luke is one smart Hound! :D

Brenda, I thought that might be the case as it only stands to reason when it comes to the preference of the meat. I'm sure you make some amazing dishes that New York Chef's would try to emulate, and make a fortune serving. Of that, I have no doubt! 8)

Luke is truly home. ♥

Lovely photos Brenda! Luke looks so cozy snoozing beside his Dad. :D It took me a minute in the first photo to realize those were someone's feet! I thought it was a stuffed toy of some sort.

Lucky looks younger and younger each time I see him. Beautiful boy. 8)

Luke is one very happy and lucky pup. I love the photos of him snuggled down next to his Dad. (Deb, I thought the same thing about a stuffed animal!! )

I LOVE LUCKY! What an adorable boy he is...hard to believe he's 16! I think having the young ones around him must keep him young, too.

Margie, thank goodness as I wondered if I was really in need of new glasses, or just losing my mind. 8)

I was also thinking what a fantastic foot warmer Luke would make in that position, particularly with his ear "flap" (leather) over the top of the feet with his face against the bottoms. Toasty warm indeed. :D

I did notice the feet where Luke was so comfy asleep. I see the bones of the hunt are being enjoyed, mostly by Autumn. That would be Allie and Ice would be more like Luke, just wondering around. Looks a little overcast there, the dogs don't mind. Lucky is so adorable, enjoying the outdoors, the one in charge!

Lucky most certainly is the Boss! He is so cute, and certainly does not look 16. It's almost hard to believe. Autumn was certainly enjoying her treats, and Luke was happy just to be included. He has fit in so well!

Brenda, you have a beautiful fur family, and I enjoyed watching them play and just be dogs. :D They are living the good life indeed.

Yes he is bossy but I'm glad . I have shot records for Lucky for 1996 , that was his first rabies shots. But he doesn't look that old to me either only sometimes. Then I worry.

Maybe Autumn and Luke keep him young , he has to stay in shape to keep them in line LOL!

They have drove me nuts all day between them and Dad , he doesn't think they are playing but hurting one another and it's too wet to go out so it's been a mad house here.

Brenda, although it isn't funny for you living it, it is rather amusing the way you tell it! :D

We are having the rains as well, which are supposed to change to flurries, then back to rain, for the remainder of the week. (Not good weather for a Migraine sufferer  ). Today I was thinking how grateful I am that it is rain and not snow!!! Last year at this time, the boys had already had at least one snow day from school.

Stay sane and keep busy. Bless you for taking care of "Dad" the way you do! (and everyone else!)
