adopting a senior dog

Postby manitwo on Wed Dec 21, 2011 4:58 am

Sorry i posted a post in the wrong place.
Now we are three.Today i adopted a sweet little 10 year old Minature Fox Terrier from The Peninsula Animal Aid Refuge.
At the moment he is sound asleep in his very own bed, probably the only bed he has ever had, having had a terrible past.
The refuge had him desexed and i will work hard to get his weight up as he is only 5 kg.
Mimi seems taken with him which is great.
We are so happy to be able to give BADGER a a loving home, and it is obvious he loves us in return..Manitwo and Mimi.

Manitwo, That is great to hear. There is something so special about a senior dog, and so many of them never get a second chance. I would also love to see pictures of Badger.

Sorry i havent posted any photos of Badger,i have taken some sweet ones but cant downsize them to post.Anyway Badger is blackand white with a cute little white tail..
Both he amd Mimi got lots of treats for Xmas and Badger also got a rope tug that he loves..
I think of all the dogs that were left in the refuge but can only hope they get a nice lunch, which i am sure they will as the staff are so caring. Manitwo,Mimi and Badger

Badger loves to cuddle and is a real Velcro dog.I think it makes him feel more secure .
He gaining more confidence every day ,and people have remarked on how confident he is looking.
He still freaks out if he hears a raised voice but i think given time this will ease.Y es love works both ways doesent it.

Thankyou Liz ,Daisy and Buddy,
Badger has settled in really well now .It took a little while ,two weeks before he would step out my front door to our garden ,the same time before he uttered a sound (now he wont stop talking) and was not game to take a drink of water,in spite of having water containers everywhere.I have solved that one by giving him chicken soup ,just a tiny piece of chicken in the dish ,but at least he is getting his fluids.
In the streeet now he is called Cock of the Walk with a real ego
Yes we are so lucky to have him and give him the home he deserves.
Joy to your Daisy and Buddy. Manitwo,Mimi and Badger.
