Rocco , Miley and friends (Miley has a new fear)

She goes out no problem. So I don't think it's the flap. It's something in the kitchen.

I too was heartbroken by her cries of distress. I noticed Miley looking up and to the left during one of the times she nearly made it all the way through. Perhaps it was something like the Ice Maker or the telephone that spooked her. Something surely has, poor darling.

I'm sure you've given the doggy door a thorough inspection from both sides, so I can't imagine she hurt herself somehow going in or out. I wonder if she jumped up a little too high, or jumped a little too low and perhaps clipped her back on the top, or her feet on the bottom, that has her worried.

You are so sweet and encouraging with her! I hope you are able to figure it out soon. ♥

I thought Rocco looked wonderful! I'll have to go back and have another look, but I didn't notice any sparseness on his tail, but then I was looking at his sweet face, and Miley's.

Poor baby! I feel so sorry for her. I noticed the same thing Deb, she keeps looking up when she gets about halfway through. It was definitely something above her that spooked her.

Hopefully she will come around in a couple of days when she realizes nothing is going to hurt her.

Oh, poor Miley! I agree the the others...it seems like something spooked her. It is adorable to see her start to come thru, but then back out again. Adorable, but heartbreaking.

Hopefully in a few days she'll feel more confident again.

I must say - I enjoyed hearing your voice and the way you talk to her...I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses voices with my dog!!!

Awww, poor Miley! How sad, I hope she will soon get over her fear of whatever spooked her. If only we knew what they were thinking.

Margie, I think I use my "dog" voice more than my normal voice, as I spend ALLLL day with them...LOL!

LOL! I can totally relate to Margie and RJM when it comes to "dog voices". I seem to develop an individual one for each dog I've had as it suits their personality.

RJM, I thought the same thing you did upon hearing Kwak's voice!

Still not coming in. She did come in twice when I got the leashes out an took Rocco out the front door.
If she doesn't get over this before tomorrow. She might be spending the day outside while I'm at work. If I leave the door open she will come in . But she bolts in , doesn't walk. I taped the flap open. Now my house is freezing and she still won't come in. Silly dog.

I have done, sit, down, stay near the door/refrig/phone and she is able to do that. First she didn't want to . But she got better. I turned the ringer off on the phone so if it rings as she is coming in it can't scare her. I can't really control the noises the refrigerator makes, or when it will drop ice. As I type this she is crying at the door. I think it's time I open it for her and let her in. Don't want to stress her too much. And she is blocking the door so Rocco can't get in either.

I can't really leave the door open while I'm not home. It's bad enough that I have a doggie door that is huge.

Autumn really use to stress over the doggy door , refused to go in or out . We puppies sat for my Aunt and finally she decided if Jake could do it she could I guess , cause she been going in out ever since .

I hope Miley gets over this soon .Good luck ,Kris . Its warmer there isn't it?

I find sometime I make it worse with Autumn because I baby her .

It's raining here today and I have to go to work. Poor baby if she goes out while I'm gone, and won't come back in, she's gonna get cold.

I do have a covered patio with a rug. So she can lay there and stay dry.

She was out there again this morning when I woke up. Don't know how long, but it wasn't raining yet.

I'm trying not to baby her. I've tried calling her nicely, demandingly, tried ignoring her completely. Still will not come back in. But after about 20-30 minutes of her cries I give in. Maybe I need to wait longer but it is so hard to ignore her cries.

I'm not convinced it's the Ice Maker, those are everyday noises that our dogs become accustomed to. Did you check all the cabinets to see if anything fell in those, that would be something unexpected.

Try feeding her inside her comfort zone gradually moving it closer to the fear area each day. Maybe Moto can come over since they play together, she just might follow Moto in and out forgetting all about the fear area.

When we were at my parents house, Cricket step on something that bit her in the grass. For days she would hop over that spot. She soon forgot about it when watching Allie and Ice move over the spot so Moto is worth a try.

Kwak, I don't think leaving her for 30 minutes, while she is in distress and crying is babying her. She used to be fine with the door, so clearly something happened. You may never know what it was, or is, but obviously Miley is very frightened by something.

I thought Kian had a great idea (as usual).

I also don't think it's the flap as she will go out, and even come part way in. It may have been something as simple as a bee stinging her just as she crossed the threshold one day which she now thinks is going to hurt her every time, much like Kian described with Cricket.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a solution for her quickly. Perhaps she may not let herself out if you aren't home and will wait until you are home to do her business. At least there is a covered area for her, with something other than concrete on which she can rest. I don't think it becomes very cold during the daytime where you live, relative to what the temps are around here, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Happy to announce that Miley can once again come in the doggie door !!! Only took 5 days. Silly Girl.


Funny for me not for Miley story. Monday morning 6am, I heard her crying at the door, I'm not sure how long she had been there. I got up and saw Rocco laying in the hallway. Looking at her. The same place I have been sitting trying to get her to come in. And Miley laying down outside with only her head in the door.

Last night. As we went to bed. She went out one more time. She started crying and I stayed in bed. After about 5 minutes she came in on her own. Today. She is coming in without a hesitation.
