Nashville? I'm with Phyrie...I'm not into "country" music at all. I've heard of the names you mentioned, Deb, but have no idea who they really are...

As much as I would LOVE to see everyone - I am not sure about this. Depending on dates, and if I'm still in this job (please don't let me still be at this job!!!), I wouldn't be able to get time off around 9/15 as it's a tax deadline. And later in the month is a rather significant birthday for me. I've been trying to think of where I want to be on that day. I'd been toying with stopping in to see Tracy , but finances and job will play into those plans...

BUT - I'll keep watching this thread to see how things are shaping up. Depending on what gets decided, I'll see if it works for me!

Margie, I remember spending a "significant" birthday of mine in Niagara Falls, more or less, so that's no excuse. I understand your reluctance as it pertains to work, but I too will be in a similar position as I plan to attempt to re-enter the work force. Just keep an open mind as I have plans for Tracy, which will involve her being in the U.S. if I can also make this happen. Never say never! I want to see you, and Tracy in the same place at the same time. ♥

In all sincerity, I do appreciate that everyone has commitments, and as much as I say I wish to attend, which I do, there is always the possibility I may not be able, as is the case with so many others. However, it is fun to "pipe dream", and not unlike the last time, actually make this happen.

Even if I can't attend, everyone else can and should as so many others are much closer to that destination as I was to the Falls.

I don't particularly "love" country music, either...but Nashville isn't just country music. There is so much history and culture there as well. And it's a fun place, especially downtown with it's lights...downtown lit up is really beautiful and i don't mean street lights.

It's so great that so many are within "do-able" distance to make this happen....

And Deb, i do hope it can be do-able for you, but of course, i would understand if you (or anyone) couldn't make it a "do".

Well I'll admit it. I am a HUGE country fan
But then again I do like all kinds of music! I've been listening to nothing but country for several months now.

I won't say no to this, but I can't commit right now either. I am hoping we will be able to go, but I have a vacation to pay for and the things we are doing to the house right now have to be paid for. We got back a really good tax check this year, but it won't pay for everything. The OH's new job still has great potential money wise, it just hasn't happened yet unfortunately. (But things are picking up, so the promise is there!) Anything extra we do I have to be able to pay for out of my free check. I will do my best though, I would really like to go, and to see you all again in person! AND to hopefully meet others that I haven't met in person. The OH also would really like to meet Kian's OH in person too!! They're fb friends, but it would be nice for them to actually meet.

I'll keep up with this thread for sure. The dates would work for us.

Hey, I'm not the biggest country fan either, but I think it would be a blast! Country is fun!

I'm in the same situation as last year. Job situation is up in the air right now, so I can't commit right now. Hopefully as dates are pinned down, I'll know more.

I checked it's a 12-13 hour drive for me, if I were to bring a fur face with me.

This is quite a while away, so I'm glad everyone is keeping their feelers out there. I don't think anyone can really commit 100% at this point, with perhaps the exception of Kian as it is "her trip" after all.

It would be wonderful to see some old friends, and hug some "new"/old friends as well.

Brenda, I am dying to sit with you and have a good old chin wag. I am also dying to meet Liz and Baby Sister, and SO many others. Kris, that's a long drive...8 hours is my daily limit for driving, but it's doable. You're in line for a hug as well. ♥

If one of us wins that Lottery, perhaps they could pay for everyone to attend!!!! Had I given it more thought, I would have sent one of my American friends the money to buy me a few tickets, and provided a self-addressed envelope so I too could participate. If it isn't won, then I may just impose on one of you.

As I mentioned earlier, Nashville was never really on my radar, but this would be less about Nashville and more about another DP Posse gathering. Nashville is just gravy.

I just checked on Mapquest, it would be a 10 hour, 630 mile drive for me.
With the cost of gas going up and up, it might be cheaper for me to fly.
That is if I'm able to swing it, once the dates are determined!

It's still not 100% for us either, it is a possibility. Brenda coming, now maybe Kris and a pup!!! Linda it would be so fun if you and OH can come, it is still early. RJM yes come, hopefully this will come together. We all understand work, money and commitments.

It's a 22 hour drive for us, so flying would be the way for us to go. Wish it was closer, we too would bring the pups.

As for Country Music, is there any other kind?

OH and I are considering making this quite a trip for us, flying on St. Louis, checking into Nashville on Sept 14th (Sorry Marge, I really want you to come, hopefully you'll have a better job!). We will attend the Opry that night, on Saturday we are going on the Jackson Showboat Dinner Cruise, Sunday is sightseeing, Check out Monday Sept 17th where we will continue our Vacation up to Nauvoo, Illinois.

We are looking at packages that includes Hotel, Opry and the Dinner Cruise. The reason we are flying into St. Louis is it is much cheaper and a better point for our travels.

While I do want to go to Nashville one day (and so does Mike!), this year it's just not feasible with the wedding in February. Unless we can miraculously find a really good deal somehow, haha.

Never say never, as this may happen. And if not this one, there will be others. It takes a perfect storm for these things to happen. However, we all know the DP Posse is a force onto itself, so Never say Never!

I agree with you both: meeting so many DP'ers in Niagara was the highlight of my last few years!

I did a quick look at flights and hotels. Yeesh....even if I can get the time off, the prices are a bit much. But I still don't know. I'll keep following the thread and see how my life is as we get closer to time.
