Georgia's 6 month appointment with the neurologist is tomorrow. I'm not sure why I am nervous b/c I know how well she is doing. I know they will yell at me b/c of her weight. I'm doing the best I can. She's happy and just starting to eat normally again. It's been so frustrating and I feel guilty about it. I try not to overfeed her and my gut keeps saying it's one of the meds. The holistic vet wants her thyroid checked. We'll see. Fingers crossed for a good report.

I hope all of the furry babies are doing well.

Kelly, good luck tomorrow angel. I know you're nervous and I understand that completely. They won't be upset about her weight, as our dogs do poorly if they are over indulged in activity.

Kelly, good luck with Georgia's checkup today. We all know you are doing everything you can for the beautiful mop-headed girl (like my Charlie on a bad hair day). The main thing is that she is making progress and, let's face it, the neurologist wouldn't feel he/she was giving you value for money if they didn't 'have a go' at you for something . Besides, it's been mentioned many time in these pages, trying to stop a cavvy from eating anything that's going is like trying to stop the world turning I look forward to hearing your report of today's proceedings.

Kelly, I clicked on here anxiously awaiting your report. I've been thinking of you and sweet Georgia all day.

Ray, you do make me smile. I have to agree that Cavaliers and food can be likened to trying to stop the world from turning. Also, I only realized recently, as I was reviewing this thread, that Charlie is also taking Fortikor for her heart. When you initially posted that, I was in such a state, I didn't absorb the name of the medication. Oliver seems to be thriving on that, along with a diuretic. You and sweet Charlie girl have been on my mind constantly since I recognized that a few days ago. ♥

Irene, I'm glad to hear Jack is a "chow hound" as well. The boys are highly food motivated, and from the sounds of things, these girls are too.

Kelly...when you have a chance, as you can tell, we would love to hear from you.

Hi All!

The appointment went well!! Georgia is neurologically the same. Some sensitivity in her neck and her hips are still pretty bad but the symptoms are not getting worse. Her liver came back fine with blood work. Now waiting on the metabolic panel which will take a while. Her weight is ballooning. I do fear she is bloated front he Rimadyl for hip dysplasia. My poor girl slept all afternoon and evening. I didn't get a chance to write yesterday b/c I went to a Phillies baseball game (and froze!!). Georgia is still a little tired but better today. I heard her barking earlier and went outside to get her....but she was barking to go into my neighbor's house. She loves her puppy Darla. So she had a play date. Georgia would never leave me to go with my neighbor anytime. I can tell she is feeling better b/c Miss Independence is returning. She doesn't wait for me to take her to visit Darla. She does it on her own.

Waiting on the remaining blood work to see if her thyroid is off. Fingers crossed.

I read this thread but don't comment often as this is such a good and informative thread I don't want to take away from it. I do want to say I am glad Georgia's appointment went well, sorry you froze at the game! One day Spring will be here, I hope. Fingers crossed here to for the Thyroid test.

Kelly, I am SO pleased that the appointment went so well. I'm even more pleased to read about Georgia looking for her friend, Darla and initiating a play date all on her own. Clearly she is feeling well!

Try not to stress the weight issue. It is simply one of the adverse side affects of what ails our dogs. The fact that Miss Independence has returned is the very best news.

I am also pleased that you were able to attend a sporting event, even though you froze, and not have the weight of the world on your shoulders. I think you've found a lovely balance for Georgia, and if she's anything like Oliver, she will keep on ticking!

I'm thrilled. Today Georgia woke up with what looks like an eye infection. Off to the vet before our Easter trip. My girl....she makes sure I am never bored

Awwww!

One of Oliver's symptoms, that he used to have far more often than he does now is called "Cherry Eye". It looks as though the eye is really red, and partly closed. Dogs have a third eyelid, whereas we humans only have two (upper and lower). Sometimes, the third part remains partially on their eye which is known as "Cherry Eye". I probably just described that terribly. I hope that's all it is with Georgia. It corrects itself.

As I mentioned, Oliver used to have that happen a great deal. As soon as Dr. Wolfe (his first Neurologist who was conducting the study) gave me her email address and asked me to capture it with my camera and email a photo, it virtually never happened again. The odd time that is has since has been fleeting, but in the early days, it happened fairly often.

If you have a chance before you start your Easter Weekend to let us know what the Doctor says, we would love to hear. I do hope it's really nothing and not an infection.

Georgia's blood results came back normal. Thankfully, no other medical issues! Relief but still puzzled by the weight gain. All three vets don't think her medication can cause weight gain (even though the Carpofen website states it). Oh well. We traveled to my parent's for Easter. Georgia has been exhausted ever since She is happy on our walks but then sleeps all evening and all through the night. The weather is slightly rainy. Maybe that is the cause. She's not complaining. Georgia also got her "puppy cut". Her Kramer hair is gone ....but she is still mighty cute

Kelly, I'm glad all her blood work came back as expected. She looks very pretty with her summer cut. I do love the "mop top" though, like Henry has. It's so funny that our Tri's have that, whereas Oliver's hairs are short on top. Try not to worry too much about Georgia's weight. As long as everything else is going well, and she isn't ballooning, that's all one can ask.

It was my younger son's 16th Birthday today, so I'm on here very late and only briefly. I had to comment on your good news and how pretty your sweet Georgia looks. ♥

Today we celebrated Georgia Grace's 3rd birthday!! 8 months ago, I didn't know if today would be possible! Thanks to everyone for their support. Georgia continues to be well....and spoiled.
