Kian, I know you rarely post in this thread, and I was quite touched by your best wishes for Georgia. Obviously you keep an eye, and that is greatly appreciated. I just had to mention that I noticed. :D

Thank you everyone! She had a fabulous two day celebration. She continues to be healthy and well. Exhausted from her party mania. She stole the cake I bought for her to share with the neighborhood dogs. She obviously wanted it all to herself :D Love this dog (and I know you all love our furry babies, too!) Acupuncture has been a phenomenal addition to her health care. She even fell asleep today during treatment....so relaxed :D

Thank you again for all of your kindness and support. I can't express how much it is appreciated. I'm posting a pic of Georgia and her cake. Her diet was out the window on her birthday! I stopped by a speciality pet store on the way home from work to buy cat food....had no idea these birthday delicacies for dogs existed! hahaha You can see how much she wanted her treat!

Slightly impatient waiting for her cake! Darla was pretty excited, too.

Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Georgia from Ray and Charlie! Sorry we missed your big day but it looks like you enjoyed yourself. I love the photo of you in your birthday finery and getting at your cake. Did you have candles?

We're so happy to hear that Georgia is responding so well to her treatment.

Best wishes for continued health to all our furry friends from Ray and Charlie

Ray, there is a box to tick at the bottom after you post. Double check that it is ticked, and you'll receive email notifications again. If you have trouble finding it, send me a PM, and we'll solve it together!

Kelly, I just love that picture of Georgia stealing a lick of her Cake before it is even cut! How cute is little Darla?! It's as if she is saying "don't forget about me"! Adorable.

I love, love, love Georgia's Party Hat, as well as her special napkins and the general party atmosphere. I noticed a very handsome young man in an "Avengers" tshirt who seemed to also be enjoying the festivities. :D

The best news of all is Georgia's continuing good health. She must be relaxed when having Acupuncture if she fell asleep. That is a wonderful alternative/addition for consideration. While I've not seen it offered around here, I also have not really investigated it. Clearly it is of great benefit to Georgia, which is the most important thing.

Georgia deserves to be celebrated (as do all of our wonderful fur family members). I am confident there will be many more celebrations to come.

Kian, just knowing that you keep up with this thread means a great deal to me. Thank you! xo

I just had a thought Debbie. The handsome young man in the Avenger's t-shirt appears to be wondering what doggy birthday cake tastes like!!

Continued best wishes to you all

hahahahaha! Ray....I'm the only one who tasted the doggy cake! hahaha.....a no sugar cake was as light as lead and bland as paper.....But Georgia enjoyed it! Avenger boy was happy with cupcakes and ice cream (I think he had 4 cones of ice cream!!)

I do have a question. Georgia has been suffering with eye infections the past 3 weeks. I've treated it with antibiotics and prednisone but it keeps coming back. It was clear for about 4 days then returned. I feel it is allergy related. I even use an eye wash. The vet won't reorder the prescription b/c of the prednisone. I'm so frustrated that I have to keep taking her back time after time for appointments. I'd do anything for her but my wallet is crying. The holistic vet is going to be looking into all natural treatments but until then....do any of you have any experience with the eye infections? Poor girl....

Below is a photo from one of my friends....Georgia obviously did not like sharing her cake. This was snapped moments before she carried it off to the other side of the yard...away from Darla.

I'm sorry I'm so late to this but Happy Belated Birthday, Georgia!!! I adore her in her birthday hat....and that last photo is priceless!

I am another member here who just reads this thread without posting much as I have nothing to contribute, as I have no experience with this horrible condition. I do, however, know how invaluable the support of the members of the DP is when you are going thru something with your beloved pup.

Kelly, I also haven't had to deal with eye infections with my dog. I hope the holistic vet can come up with something to help. And having to go back time and again to the vet is draining...and not just on your wallet. Hugs to you from Margie and Jose.

Hi Georgia's Mommy. I do love the photos you post of Georgia; the look on her face in the latest one speaks volumes :!: I have no experience of infected eyes with Charlie but I do know that it's an ongoing task to keep her eyes clear of gunge - I think it's fairly common with cavvies and other dogs with slightly protruding eyes. However that really doesn't answer your question so hopefully someone in the DP community may have some advice. Bless you in all your efforts on Georgia's behalf. Ray

Kelly, like everyone else, I too just adore that last picture of Georgia! Sweet Darla just wants to share in the festivities, and I know how Cavaliers enjoy their treats. The look on Georgia's face is just priceless, especially wearing that Chapeau! I love it!

I am sorry to hear about her eye infection. I do think you're right in thinking it's allergy related since it keeps returning. Have you tried an antihistamine? Fortunately, I have been very lucky with Oliver and Henry as far as eye infections go. In the past, I've had dogs with Conjuctivitis, but nothing more serious than that. It cleared up after drops and salve that went directly in their eyes....no fun at all!!!

I know that each time you walk through the door of your Vet's office, it costs anywhere from $35.00 to $50.00. I hope your Holistic Vet can be more helpful. Has the infection been confirmed through a test? I'm wondering if she's scratched her eye when face rubbing and is either having "Cherry Eye" or excessive discharge due to a scratched eye. This is pure conjecture on my part.

Let us know what you find out. Again, I just love Georgia's Birthday Photos! She is such a doll. ♥

Hi Everyone!

It is definitely an infection caused by allergies (according to the vet). They didn't charge me for an appointment (probably b/c I really resisted coming in b/c she was just there!). According to the vet he's had a large number of dogs in for eye infections related to allergies. Everything is almost finished with blooming...I'm hopeful she gets relief soon. We now have new eye drops. I honestly don't know how else to prevent this. I do think her head banging/rubbing also contributes to making the situation worse. The vet said it wasn't as bad as last time (3 weeks ago) but still an infection. The good thing is that they gave me one drop instead of 2. I don't see the holistic vet for a while.

Also, I'll post one more pic (I'm sure my pics are becoming obnoxious!! haha). Georgia is so photogenic I can't resist. This pic was taken by the holistic vet. Georgia fell asleep during acupuncture. I'm still shocked. She was sooooooo relaxed. She has being doing so well regarding SM/CM. She is now only going one time per month. I'm still not sure what the long term effect will be....but Georgia is doing good now. One day at a time :D

Kelly, first and foremost, we will NEVER tire of seeing pictures of sweet Georgia! :!:

I'm glad the Vet saw you again, and didn't charge for the visit, and has given Georgia something extra to help. Hopefully, this will be the last of it. Allergies are going to be a challenge this year, I suspect as we had such a mild winter.

I do love that picture of Georgia. She looks SO relaxed. I love the "droopy" eyes of a Cavalier as they fall asleep. If one says their name, it takes a herculean effort for them to lift their lids. Henry fell asleep tonight in the funniest position, half laying across a chair, with his paws on the window sill, and his head drooping into his front legs. I couldn't believe he had nodded off!

Thanks for the update, and the picture. I'm glad I checked back this evening. :D
