Hi I'm Kylie, I live in Australia. I live with my son, Lachlan, who has just turned ten, and our new puppy Annabel. It's a first time having a puppy for both of us. It's an exciting journey, a lot like having a second child! Definitely open to advice. She's a real cutie, so we're trying to be careful to train her properly so she doesn't get "Little Dog Syndrome" and can be a delight to everyone she meets. Been researching heaps on the Internet about what to do. Haven't managed crate training- she sleeps in the living room with the back door open so she can poo in the backyard... but she seems to be going backwards with her pees! Anyway, been enjoying reading some of the advice here. Big thanks to everyone who commented on Annabel's pictures, my houseguest and I were blown away by all the lovely comments!

Thanks! I have to brag on him a moment...he is my show dog. He does all kinds of tricks and behaviours, we do demos and school trips. He competes in conformation with one Best of Show already, competes in Rally O and now agility. He is quite the boy!

Hello Kylie and welcome to the DP. I can "hear" the puppy excitement in your typing. How is your son enjoying dog ownership? My nearly ten year old loves it. He now takes one of our deerhounds out for walks on his own. I'm Tracy and I have deerhounds Loki and Idun, and my mum's Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Libby is also in the household. We are in North Devon, England.

Hi! Lachlan's getting a bit frustrated with Annabel I think, because she listens to me and my houseguest but not to him- she won't stop biting him and trying to rip his trousers with her teeth whenever he walks into the living room. Trying to teach him to get some authority over her. I think this stems from the fact that he'll get on the floor and have a wrestle. Working on it! Really nice to meet everyone here, thanks for your comments!
