Mine sometimes sneezes and coughs due to the dust here, with the humidity there I wouldn't see that being a issue. Perhaps a call to the breeder just to be sure. Pneumonia is deadly, I lost a calf to it once and did have the meds.

It has been so dry here, and the floor of the barn is loose and dusty.
Atticsue is just as active and curious as can be, and a little piggy too. He butts Merlin out of the food dish, and ends up eating most of the food the breeder sent home with me. Merlin doesn't seem to mind, he prefers hay.

I do!! I never realized how fun they could be.
Thank you so much, Kian, for introducing me to the world of goats.
I would love it if you came for a visit.

Merlin has really come out of his shell in the past couple days. Atticus was a little social butterfly from the start...LOL!

They sound like such characters already! It's funny that Atticus, the wee one, is the pushy one, and sweet Merlin just accepts what comes his way. :D

I love, love, love their little voices. I'm sure it makes you smile every morning. 8)

Kian, that's a great idea about how to introduce the dogs to the Goats! I'm also glad you introduced RJM to the world of Goats!!! They certainly are different from the big ones we had, although the Nanny Goat was a darling, she was the size of an Irish Wolfhound, almost.

RJM, I hope you find out why Atticus is coughing and sneezing. I'm sure it's the dryness and the heat, but better safe than sorry. Do let us know.

Deb, I'm going to call the vet in town about Atticus. He's started making a rattling noise when he breathes, and he was sneezing this evenng. Of course tomorrow is a holiday, go figure. But I'll be on the phone with them first thing Thursday!
I hope it's nothing serious and want to catch it before it does develop into something more.
Hopefully I'm just a worried new goat mom, and it turns out to be nothing.

Here are a couple videos from this morning...each one taking a turn on the goat agility course.

RJM, i love watching videos of them! I think i could watch them all day. They are the cutest little animals. How in the world do you get a goat to do all that agility stuff??

I do hope that little Atticus is not sick :(

He's still sneezing today, I am worried about him, as now he's opening his mouth and wiggling his lips around every time he coughs...it's almost like he's choking. :? But he's still active and eating, that's a good sign, right?
It's almost 100F here today, so right now he's just lying in the shade.

Do you have anyone living close by who could have a look at him until you can get him to the vet? I hope he gets better soon.

I took Atticus to the vet this morning. The vet's pretty sure he has pneumonia.
He got a shot of cortisone, an antibiotic shot, and a wormer...that last one stung, and the little guy was NOT happy!
We were sent home with 2x a day antibiotics, and have a recheck in a week.

The vet said Atticus is very skinny...I had no clue, as his tummy is so big. :?
He wants him on a milk replacer, hopefully he will accept that, as he wanted nothing to do with the bottle feeding of goats milk. Maybe he'll drink it out of a bowl...fingers crossed.

I know vets are supposed to let you know what the worst outcome may be, but now I'm very worried about the little guy.
As he told me, we give them the best medication and treatment available, but sometimes that's not enough.

Oh good God! Let's hope that little baby responds to his meds and kicks that nasty pneumonia! I was enjoying seeing both of the goats, they are so cute and was able to catch up on a lot today. This is a bummer for the little guy and you, the mama. Prayers for our little creatures and their well-being!! (OH, too!)
