He’s a Pitbull Fox Terrier Mix, and in this picture he is about 9 weeks old. He is 10 weeks old now, though he may be small for his age. We ended up getting him early at 6 weeks, which couldn’t be helped and when he was 7 weeks old he came down with Parvo. He’d already started his first set of puppy shots and then he got sick a week later. Our vet tells us that he’s one of the lucky ones – especially since he got it at such a young age. I’m glad he’s such a survivor because it was breaking my heart to think I would lose him. We took him to the vet a day after he started getting sick and throwing up, mostly worried about him becoming dehydrated. We were surprised when the vet’s Parvo Virus test came back positive. A couple of days on antibiotics, IV fluids, and anti-nausea medication he was almost as good as new. He’d lost all the weight he’d put on in the first week with us, was a bit more tired and hungry than usual. He’s been off bland diet for two weeks now and he’s finally putting weight back on, almost seeming to grow daily. I’m going to have to get a scale to weight him and I will update with some fresh pictures of the new pot belly he’s sporting. The last day before he left the vet, he was only 7.5 pounds and now he feels as though he gained a good five pounds. Well, we shall see
Isley is such a sweetie pie, and a total goofball, who loves to have his belly rubbed. He’s also very smart! At 10 weeks old he’s got sit, laydown, shake, come, and touch mostly figured out except if he gets overexcited. Like when someone comes home from work or if someone new comes over. I'm glad to be a part of this forum. I haunted it for a little while before I joined and everyone here is nice, and seems to truly be a dog lover. Cheers to man’s best friend!
