RJM, I am summoning all the DP Force possible to help wee Atticus through this rough patch.

I am glad you took him to the Vet first thing. Hopefully, you have caught it in time. I also hope he starts feeding (and feeling) better. My heart is so with that wee fellow, so I can only imagine how you feel. (((((HUGS)))))

Atticus will get better! He simply has to and he is in your tender loving care. I think the Vet was just trying to be very realistic as Goats are not generally "companion animals". Sometimes being prepared for the worst, is the best. Oliver has taught me that, time and again. :)

I'm sending all my healing vibes, keeping you and Atticus in my prayers, and sending you huge hugs angel. xo

Re: Merlin & Arthur - R.I.P. Sweet Atticus

After a really bad few days last week, sweet little Atticus passed away Monday morning.

I honestly don't think he ever had a chance, as he never grew and only weighed 7 pounds at 2-1/2 months of age.
He developed Enterotoxemia, cause by the Clostridium bacteria, which poisoned his intestines and in turn poisoned his whole system.

The breeder was stunned and felt so badly for us, she offered another kid to us. I went and picked one out that very afternoon, as Merlin was missing his little buddy and calling for him all day long.

Introducing...Arthur!
He was born May 2nd, and is a chocolate agouti Pygmy goat.

Here's his baby picture

Love the new pictures RJM!!! There were a couple I had not seen. :D

It already sounds like Arthur is going to be your "wild child", which is lovely. You need at least one naughty one.

I wondered how he and Merlin were managing together at night especially. Since you've not mentioned anything, I am going to assUme that it is going well. I probably shouldn't do that, but I'm a rebel. :P

I love the tongue shot. It does look like he is giving you the "raspberry" RJM! I think Arthur is very handsome....and will be the "bad boy" of your pack!

My heart breaks for you over Atticus. But as I've said before, he had 2 weeks of joyful love with you and the HO. He was were he needed to be....I can only imagine what his final days might have been like if someone less compassionate and loving had him. Hugs to you, dear friend! And a big one to the HO. ♥

Thank you, Liz.

LOL, Margie...I'm pretty sure he was giving me the "raspberry".
I'm so happy we were able to give Atticus the best life we could in the two weeks he was with us.
He was absolutely the sweetest, most trusting baby I've ever known. ♥

Deb, Merlin and Arthur are getting along great. Arthur looks to Merlin to see how he should react to situations, as Merlin is an old hand at our routine already. I was a little worried about locking them up together in the barn that first night. Arthur was SO wild, I was concerned if he panicked, that he might hurt my sweet Merlin. He watches Merlin getting all the love and pets now, and he's starting to approach me, as long as I'm very still...any sudden movements and he's gone. I was able to touch him yesterday. Whenever I pet Merlin, Arthur will stand next to him. As I was petting Merlin, I very slowly included a small portion of Arthur's back into the pets...He moved away, but didn't bolt...I'm happy with that for now. :D As Phyrie said on FB, "I will be MUMMY!"

My deepest sympathy on poor Atticus. It breaks my heart to think about losing one of my girls. As others said, he was very blessed to have your love these past 2 weeks.

RJM, you ARE Mummy already! Sweet little Arthur...I think within a week he will be lining up for those cuddles and perhaps even trying to butt in front of Merlin for some lovin'!

It makes me so happy to read about your "kids". ♥

Hi Vanessa, I've been busy with the kids. The breeder came over this past Saturday and banded them.
Arthur is still wild, so I had to lure him in to a dog crate, he was not happy when I shut the door. But it save us from chasing him all over the pen trying to catch him. The HO held him while the breeder banded him, I didn't want to be the bad guy.
As requested, here are some pics I took today...
It's finally cooled off today, to the 80's and the boys were full of p&v, it's the first day since the banding that they were back to their normal selves.

I love this picture of Merlin! It really shows off the patches of gold coloring he got from his mom.

RJM!!! They are so cute playing together. Melted my heart. How can you manage to get anything else done with them around? It seems it would be impossible to not sit and watch them all day!

I LOVE the fifth picture down...they look so loving toward each other in that pic...
And the single one of Arthur, looking angelic.

Merlin's gold patches are pretty :D

Thanks for the new pics!!! You gave me my baby goat fix for the day
