I meet other Aussie owners (not in our club), who fall in love with Ice and want to breed them to thier female Aussie... NO! I even met one who had a Merle, did not know Merle - Merle was a problem....talk about needing to educate. Leave the breeding to the professionals!

Kian, I had almost the same thing happen to me!

I was walking Benson one day at my parent's house (in the country, where a lot of uneducated people breed their dog to their neighbour's on purpose and sell the pups for $400 a piece). A truck drove by us then turned around and stopped. They asked if I had gotten Benson at the wolfe island breeder (a pretty famous breeder in our area, they have a really long waiting list. I think they're the only breeder in the Kingston area). I said no, that we had gotten him from just outside of Ottawa. They started talking about their female golden and then said "Is he fixed?" And I said yes, and they went "Oh, darn. That's too bad."

I wanted to smack them! I can't believe they think I would EVER breed my dog to some RANDOM person's dog!? And the breeder had it in our contract that we had to get him fixed and couldn't breed him, which makes perfect sense to me. We quickly said goodbye and walked away. Uneducated morons.

Jayme, there are people like that. There was a particular lady, who was a client at the animal hospital i worked at, she was a "breeder". She would breed and breed chihuahua's. She didn't inbreed...but she bred to the point where the dog lost all meaning. They were tiny puppies who had health problems and she just didn't care. All she saw was the dollar signs. Being in South Florida, small, pocket puppies are an accessory among the "rich". Something to carry in their huge Louis Vuitton bags. Yes, i am from "that" part of SoFla. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop this kind of breeding....and so the cycle continues....

Sadly your right Nezza. Good for you Jayme, don't you just want to smack some people.

Nothing really much to add today, life goes on. Yesterday I was painting sheds and coop to get ready for winter. The goats were out free roaming and just as I got done, I stood up to walk away and put painting supplies up when I hear the clatter of hooves........not reindeer! They came running and started headbutting and playing by me. Clarissa decided to put herself between me and shed and before you know.....I had a painted red goat! She got a bath and we all know how much goats just love water. I had to bring her in at nightfall and put her in Ice's crate to dry off. It only took a couple of hours and she was dry. Ice did not like her in his crate!

I have a very soft goat this morning and she looks purty clean!

Kian, your goat story made me laugh. And i was imagining Ice's little face, confused and un happy as to why there was a goat in his crate!

The OH is getting his Thanksgiving Day menu planned...i can't believe the holidays are here already!!! I DO love them so much. I will be putting up the tree and decorating the house on Thanksgiving Day, as that's always been my family's tradition. I'm thinking of getting a nice bottle of wine for after dinner, putting some Christmas music on, and enjoying the festivities  Oh, i think i'm getting ahead of myself, here!

Thanksgiving day plans, another year gone by. I always put up my decor early as well, outside will go out next week while the weather is nice. Fingers crossed it will stay nice. I too like my tree up for Thanksgiving, it's nice to have it. I am planning on visitors, so having the house decorated will be a good reason to get started.

I see the NE is getting slammed with bad weather, hope it doesn't last long.

BRRR!!! It's a chilly one this morning!!! 35 degrees

Kian, sounds like you do A LOT of decorating :D Your house must look absolutely, festively, wonderful! I love Christmas lights, especially! I wish we had more people around for the holidays...coming from a fairly large family, i miss the "noise" of it all.

My sister's 5th baby is due next month!!! Her house is always full of life and noise! She emails me pictures of the kids, and they are all just growing up so very fast. It makes me sad, because i wish i was there to watch them grow.

I have a few, i'm going to post them in my thread :D

Kian, could Clarissa have been decorating herself for Christmas? LOL. Goats, like dogs will get into everything you are doing. They just want to help. I haven't painted anything red, but I have had a black, white, green, and aqua Cocker Spaniel and I am sure if I was painting anything red, he would be right in the middle of it. He loves the color red.
Clarissa looks so cute; you should have put a big green bow around her neck and made a picture for your Christmas cards.

I cant count the number of times that I have told somebody that Prince was fixed and still asked if I would allow him to father a litter of puppies. What part of neutered don't they understand? I had one lady ask if he could still do it? LOL.

hahah Kian, the image of a goat in a dog crate made me laugh!

Benson doesn't actually have his crate anymore, I think it's in my parent's basement. He never went in it and there's just no room at my house here in Guelph (darn townhouses!).

It's starting to get dark here and only 4pm! It's been threatening to rain all day so I think that's part of it.

I just got quite the shock from Feather as I'm typing this! She's playing with Benson and in an effort to get to higher ground latched herself onto my back through the bars of the chair I'm sitting in. She has a bad habit of trying to crawl into bed with me in the mornings, but then she gets frustrated because she can't get the sheets out of the way and she claws at them, but her claws go straight through to my skin! Not a nice way to wake up!

I can't believe you guys are decorating already! I just took down the halloween decorations today, and my pumpkins are still sitting outside, although they are starting to sag. I think I might buy just some christmas lights to go on our front porch as no one will be here for christmas anyways. I need to arrange to have the cats taken care of while I'm gone. There's a place called "CatNap Cottages" near us. The only catch is it's quite expensive! And if you are booking between Dec 21st and Jan 3rd they have to stay for a full week. If they don't, you still have to pay the full week. They don't say prices on the website, but it's a $75 downpayment so I suspect it'll be quite expensive! There's an animal hospital that does cat boarding too. I'll have to look into that.

Today has been a cleaning day for me. I think I'm on my fifth load of laundry (two loads were my clothes, then benson's towels, sheets, my towels, and I think I'm going to wash the shower curtain today too, it's looking a little icky!)
. There's not going to be any water left in Guelph by the time I'm done!

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Ouch Jayme! Laundry, the never ending chore it seems.

No I haven't started to decorate yet, I do like to get ahead of it and get the decor up outside while the weather permits. After today, it's Brrrrrr here. Nezza I don't do a lot of decorating like I use to, this year I will do more. It takes me a few days before it's done.

Last night we had a huge windstorm and it ripped a hole in the chicken netting over the coop. The fox came around and scared the chickens. The Roosters flew up and out of the hole and well...I'm sad. The one Rooster was so pretty, I loved him and his flashy looks. Wish I had checked thier wings and clipped. The girls are fine, thank goodness. I can see where the fox tried to dig under the coop, tonight I tried my best to shove boards and wire to stop him. It is useless to trap the fox, we live in a area where they are prevelant, so one fox trapped isn't going to make a difference.

Great Sunday Morning to you ladies :D

Today is supposed to be a beautiful day!!! High's in the low 70's and SUNNY!!!! So wonderful, today the OH is smoking a brisket that we will have with our friends down the street (mike and jen), yes, the same ones from last time. We all get along so well and seem to really enjoy each other's company. The OH is making homemade pinto beans (NOT from a can), cornbread, mac and cheese, cole slaw and apple pie!!!! WOO HOO!!!! Anyone wanna join us?? :D

Jayme, out of all the household chores....i dislike laundry THE MOST!!!! Kitty cat claws are no joke!! And, you're right, that is NOT a pleasant way to wake up

I've had kitty cats all my adult life, i had a white cat, named Reoke (Ree-oh-kee), he had one blue eye, one green eye (no he was not deaf in either ear). I had him since the day he was born. He was the sweetest, most gentle cat i have ever encountered in all my years at the animal hospital. When he wanted to be pet, he would come up to me and touch my cheek, no nails what so ever. I don't think that cat even knew what his claws were for. He never used them. Ever. I had him for 12 years before having to put him down. The last couple years of his life, he had diabetes. I gave him his insulin injections every day, twice a day....it got to the point where the insulin just wasn't doing anything anymore and his little life was deteriorating  He was indescribable to me...he had gone through so much with me and the splitting up of me and my husband...he was always there. He loved to sleep above my head, on my pillow. He was an angel....

Image

Kian, i'm so sorry about your beautiful rooster  Luckily the girls are okay. I've always been so sad when we've lost one of our chickens, too...they become pets, they have personality, people who don't own chickens don't understand that. I love my girls, and they are very unique and different from each other. I'm very sorry

A couple pics of Reoke and Snoopy....Snoopy was a stray at about 6 months old, that came to me like a gift from Heaven...

What wonderful cats, Reoke sounds like a very special cat. It's sad thier life is so short, guess more time to love more. Cats are amazing, I will again enjoy one or two sometime in the future. It's wonderful how our pets bring us through tough times in life.

I knew you would understand about my Rooster, he was so pretty, one of a kind. I'm still so sad, I miss his crowing. I also miss the other Rooster, he wasn't flashy but he was so mellow just went along with anything and not aggressive at all. I have never seen two Roosters get along so well. Yes, I'm very sad about it.

Your dinner sounds wonderful, I love smoked Brisket, it's the best flavor! I would take 70's again, it's bitter cold now. We were enjoying a Indian Summer, knew it wouldn't last long. The first thing in the morning I put on my heavy winter jeans, a sweat shirt, jacket, knitted cap and my bogs! Out I go to feed and water, I remind myself each day is closer to Spring.....it doesn't work....LOL!

Kian, i was thinking about your roosters this morning. It's so rare to have two that get along so well. I do understand your pain  Our pets really do amazing things for us. It's so hard to protect them when we live out in the country. My biggest fear here are the coyotes. Last week, we could stand on the porch and hear them a few nights straight. They were out in full force :o Saddly, the only thing to ever break into our coop was Willie....and he did kill both our rooster and hen last year.

I have always been a huge cat lover....so, you can imagine my delight when little Persie showed up. I've got him moved and comfortable on the front of the porch, where it's safe, with a little bed, toys, and shelter from the wind. He comes inside, when i entice him with food  but, he's still not completely comfortable staying inside. But, we're making progress every day... :D

The brisket turned out AMAZING!!! Dinner was wonderful, good company, lots of laughs, a few drinks :D Great night all around.

Ooh, bitter cold i do not like. When i, too, try to remind myself that each day that passes is a closer day to Spring...it doesn't work either. :?

Finally taking a morning break! I LOVE your blog, nothing offensive in there. I have to laugh at things people do as well. The check lady.....we all run into one! The first time the Cashier told me I didn't need to fill out the check, had me a little concerned to. She didn't ask for ID, said just to sign it and she would give it back. I wondered where the security was concerning writing checks, so easy for a thief. Like you, I don't write checks anymore, I mostly use my Debit. I do have concerns with that as well, they can be easily copied and used. Lately I try to use more cash, mostly when we go out to eat. I hate when it's taken, I like the resturants that have a hand held scanner and printer, that works better for me.

Your so right about this world becoming scary, so much corruption, so many people who don't care and don't see how the world is shifting.

On the upside, I'm looking at a litter of puppies to be born in January. A Tri color Aussie from working and show lines to compliment Ice and his qualities. He is still such a puppy, by the time she is old enough, Ice would have settled down.
We had unexpected company last night which caught me off guard as I came home. I didn't have time to settle Ice down before they entered the house. I put him in a down and a stay....oh the whining was off the chart! **Sigh**...I still have a wild child...LOL!
