Nezza I hope your feeling better.

Richard how is your OH?

Everytime I scroll through, those pictures of Benson make me laugh, I just love it.

Jackson is over his setback and continues to well with his training. The intelligence level between him and my other two are so different. I had to use some of the techniques I worked with on other Terriers. Glad to know my methods work!

I too was at a lost as to why they would travel here during the coldest time of the year. I did talk to them about making sure they don't teach fear of dogs to thier son. Respect yes, fear no. It saddens me that some of our grandchildren have learned this fear. Lucky we have good dogs and they have done well with them.

I'm to getting over a mild cold, I did baby myself more than usual. Too many friends have been so ill and I don't want that.

I'm glad the Holidays are behind us, time to move on and look forward to Spring. I'm counting the weeks, still a long way to go.

Kian, just back from visiting the OH,she is currently in the local Nurseing home,a pretty nice place and only 5 minutes from the old homestead.
She will be there for a while then return to a Hospital some 20 miles away for more surgery..We hope they get it right this time...Our Surgeon is the best of the best and we have complete faith in him.

My children never feared dogs, I have seen a photo my Dad took many years ago...My youngest daughter was standing with her arm draped over the neck of one of my Coonhounds.

HI Everyone,
Just stopped to say Hello to all and hope that everyone is well now and things are settling down nicely after the Holidays.

Both my husband and I were very sick with a severe cold, cough and laryngitis, and I also had a bout with Shingles. It was on my face and near my left eye but did not get to the eye. I took a two week bunch of Antibiotics, which looked as if they were for horses.

I feel much better now. Little Cooper turned 4 years on Jan. 10, 2013 and he is doing fine.

Take care everyone. Love you Kian, Deborah and all my buds.

Much love to all,
Elizabeth and Mini Anderson Cooper in NY~

Hi everyone!! Thanks for all the well wishes. :D

Deb, you mentioned that you had a stomach flu. Those are nasty. I hate a stomach flu. And, i think i may have a touch of one now  After having a terrible cold, my stomach has not been feeling right for a few days now. Geez...will it ever end? I hope you're feeling better!

Kian, glad to hear Jackson is doing well with his training! But, of course he is, with you being the trainer :D

Richard, i hope everything goes well with your OH's next surgery. Will she get to go home after the next one?

Hi Liz! Seems like everyone is getting sick! I hope your both feeling better. And, Happy Birthday, Cooper!

So, last week we had record setting temperatures for January in TN. We were up in the 70's. Which would have been PERFECT if we had the sun to go with it. But, no, we've been having rain, rain and more rain. It's kind of like a slap in the face, don't ya think? The OH just got back yesterday from visiting his grandparents for 3 days in Orlando. I had to pick him up at the Chattanooga airport...which is only about 45 minutes from the house. The weather was so bad though...it took us double that time to get back home. Such heavy rain! And it's back down into normal January temps. So, the creek is running pretty good right now and we won't be going anywhere today. Which is just fine with me.

Kian, you'll get a kick out of this story. Two days ago, i come home from work and walk up behind the house and the "ladies" are doing their thing...and then i look and there is a beautiful rooster hanging out with them! He's white with a multi colored tail. I knew he came over from our neighbor's house across the street. She has many, many chickens and a few roosters, too. I figured he was just over for a visit and would go back home. Well, my ladies went into their coop when the sun went down and the rooster went back home across the street. Wouldn't you know it, the next morning, the rooster is back. Crowing at the coop door! Same thing happens at the end of the day. Well, yesterday morning, i thought for sure we wouldn't see him as the creek was running. Well, that rooster, sure enough, was here. I figured he must have spent the night somewhere here on our property because there is no way he could have walked across the creek. So, i left to go pick the OH up. (The creek, at this point, was still crossable by car). We get back home and the day goes on. Getting darker. OH is in the bathroom and happens to look out the window. He yells at me to go out onto the porch and watch the rooster...as he was making his way back down the drive way. Well, this rooster approaches the creek and FLIES across the creek to go back to his own home!!! He must have flew over in the morning, too. What a daring attempt for this rooster. If he happens to not make it and falls into the creek...he's done for!! Poor thing. Our guess is that there is just so much competition over at his house that he likes to come over here and hang out. Smart rooster

Nezza I love that story! Guess he needs "new girls", our Rooster could fly really well. That was the reason for his demise, I should have clipped a wing when I saw that. Our two girls are staying closer to home now and they put themselves in thier coop long before dusk.

Elizabeth sorry to hear your were sick, glad you and Bob are feeling much better now. Happy Birthday to Cooper!

I too wish people would stay home when sick with that flu, that would be the best way to control this. When our kids were here they related thier Christmas day with our Son's bio mom and her family. Her mom came to spend the day and she had the flu! Our DIL was mad and got mad when she insisted on kissing the baby.....she told her "oh I'm feeling better today". UGH....even those who know better don't get it!

Richard hope you stay well and your OH.

Today was -11, I want Spring! 8)

Kian, -11?? Seriously??? oh that is COLD!!! I'm wishing for spring, too. And, i'm really wishing for the rain to STOP!!! The creek is so flooded today that i had to call out of work. Now, i don't mind an extra day off...but, being stuck here without being able to actually leave and enjoy the day, is not so great. Especially when we've been here at the house for the past few days. We're getting "house-a-tosis"

Wouldn't you know it....that rooster is here! He must be a good flier because the creek is wide today. I'm taking a strong liking to him. He's got spunk and he seems to really like our girls and he goes home at the end of the day. Very polite house guest  PLUS, I'm so surprised, the ladies are still laying. :D

Persie is kinda enjoying being held, now. Waffles is....Waffles. He's like a little kid and we wouldn't have it any other way. He's our spoiled little boy.

Springtime, springtime...please hurry.

Kian,I find it hard to imagine -11 where you live.I was allways through there in July or August and we know what it's like in mid summer..I would travel through the Cimaron to Taos, visit friends at a commune about 10 miles north ( New Buffalo ).
"Morning Star"was right across the road...One could see both communes and the folks then in residence in the movie "Easy Rider...Then it was northward to Mesa Verde...Used to visit a fellow silversmith in Durango,we exchanged information...I once came home with a new casting technique that he taught me and used it ever after.

Nezza,For a while I was makeing a late winter trip to Florida each year, later to Dogshows in Atlanta...In your neck of the woods we sometimes ran into ice or blinding fog..We would spend the night in the nearest town ( often Dayton Tn. ) ..I know what it is like when the creek is up in the hollow..no one is going anywhere for a while....I believe if I was stuck somewhere I couldn't wish for a nicer place.

The latest news on the OH is that she will be returning to the Hospital for further surgery in a few weeks then back to the Nurseing Home for rehab and PT...The Surgeon says everything is going according to plan,,,I DO trust him,he is the best of the best as far as joint replacement goes..

.Meanwhile back at the ranch,Miss Maggie,my last Siberian, and I are holding down the fort.. 8)

Yup it really was that cold, my fingers were freezing to the point of numbness and I had good gloves on. I had to feed quickly and get back to the fire.

Richard your travels have taken you to the most interesting places and experiences. Is your OH in good spirits pending another surgery?

Getting Cabin Fever Nezza? I to can't imagine a better place to hang out. I love being home, I may not if I was forced to. It's good your always prepared.

I would love to see that Rooster! My girls aren't laying much even with the light on, it's just too cold. Warming trend this weekend, we are suppose to be above freezing!!

Jackson had a playdate tonight with a cute little Yorkie, she was sassy. They had fun, he really has done well. I love that he and Ice are BFF's.

Good Morning, Gang!

Richard, i can paint a picture in my mind with your stories. I just love hearing of your adventures! My prayers and thoughts are with you and your OH.

Kian, i'm sure wishing you some warmer weather. I know what it's like to have cold hands and feet. NOT fun!! How nice that Jackson and Ice have become such good friends. How does he do with Allie?

Yes, i do agree with you both, this is a great place to be "stuck" when the creek runs...but after a few days....you kinda just wanna get out! lol.

Well, the rain has stopped! Finally! The ground is iced over today though. It's about 20 degrees outside.

Our rooster is back. Every morning. He's right there waiting outside the "girls" coop door! How funny. :D

We are already planning our spring trip to Pigeon Forge with the Saab!! OOH! can't wait!!!! Top down, sunny skies, warm weather....AAAHHHH

20 degrees is cold! I want to open up the house and enjoy the warm breeze, why does January seem so long?

Mr. Rooster has a crush on the neighbour girls!

Allie and Jackson get along and play just fine. Ice has the energy level to match his for hours.

I recieved a unexpected gift, I have a show dog dryer being delievered to the house. I'm really excited, I have been wanting one. I also have grooming scissors coming, I need both of those bad. This means I can take the dogs to play in the river more and can dry them quickly when we get home! Ice can be groomed at home now, I just need to get a grooming stand.

What's a show dog drier? Is it like a hair drier? I wish Finn would accept being hair dried, he gets really cold easily and after a walk he's always wet for ages. But he romps around with his bum tucked up and barks at it

Yes Gaby it's a fur dryer! My two are great with it, I just started little Jackson getting use to my hair dryer. I need one badly, it's in transit now.

On Saturday our dog club had a social at the dog park, it was so much fun. I took Allie and Jackson, we stayed in the small dog section. Jackson had the time of his life! It was pure joy watching him play. Allie wanted to go the big dog section, she is the size where she could go to either side.

Today I took Ice and want a blast he had!

Hi Everyone, :D

How is everyone doing? I am glad to know that there still is a DP with actual friends on it. Kian, I must say I was quite surprised to know that it was -11 out there in NM. We haven't even gone that low here in upstate NY. But this past week has been really brrrrry cold. Right now at 4:30PM it is 15F and snowing gently. Our house is a cold place, and even with our newer HW Heat system, we use Edenpure Heaters in the wintertime. Since I was so sick last summer with all those chills and fever, I do ot want to get cold again, so I try to keep it in the low 70's. Cooper and Jassmine like to have it ware and cozy also. Bob Too.

We have a bunch of mice that are hanging out here at our house and they were not invited but OMG, how can I getg rid of them. This is off topic, but does anyone know of a good way  to rid a home of mice. I have heard of using Peppermint oil on cotton balls and that mice hate Peppermint. I haven't tried that but did purchase a bunch of those little plugin's that have a high frequency that drives them away. I haven't seen any Thank God. I HAVEN'T SEEN WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN!!!   I REALLY DETEST THEM AND SERIOUSLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO DO? HELP
Please send me a private message if you know any ways (besides calling an exterminator). Thanks so much.

Richard, Glad your wife is going to have surgery and rehab. That sounds very sensible to me. Hope you and the dog are having fun. :|

I just purchased a new HP Laptop and it is really nice, but I am not really wild about the new Windows 8? It is a bit cofusig right now but I will learn it in a few days. I am on my trusty beautiful ASUS A-I-O which I love. It has a huge
26 inch monitor, but it does not work by using my hands on the screen. This one doesn't have that option but I love it anyway.

Stay Warm Everyone and PUG HUGS TO ALL.

Elizabeth, I sent you a PM regarding your mouse situation.

It is lovely to hear from you, and I hope you and Bob are doing well. I heard on the radio this evening that we are supposed to have a high of 8C (46F) by Monday, with rain! That would be a welcome change from last Monday, which was -25C (-13F) with the windchill!!! Oh my goodness, it was bitterly cold. That is quite a broad change in the weather in just one week. It's snowing lightly again tonight, and it''s cold enough to make the snow crunchy and sparkly.

Richard, I hope your wife is doing well and that you are also. :D

Just dropping in!

Deb, I couldn't believe how cold it was a few days ago. Benson and I had to shorten our walks considerably to keep from freezing. One of my friends recently moved to Saskatchewan for a job, and I was teasing him saying "Oh man, it's so cold here. -25 with the windchill. Is it chilly at all there?" He said that morning when he had woken up it was -41 with the wind chill. Brrr.

Benson's paws don't enjoy the cold. On the very cold nights he'll start to limp after a bit, picking up his paws. I usually try to give them a brush off then continue on our way. He does have booties that he didn't need at all last year but they are at my dad's house.

I have decided on a house where I'll be moving this May. Unfortunately it doesn't have a backyard:( I was reallllly hoping to get a fenced in yard but the price of real estate in this area is insane. A three bedroom house with a fenced in back yard will run you in the $400,000-450,000 area. I went to an open house today for a townhome that had a nice big fenced backyard, however the actual house was tiny, less than 1200 sq ft. and the layout was no good at all. The one I'm in now is around 1240 sq. ft but the layout is a bit better than the one I saw.

It's a bit far from the university, but here the houses are sold before they officially hit the market because there are a lot of investors buying places to rent out.

Hope everyone is doing well! Deb, hope you enjoyed the weather today, went for a nice hike with Benson as it was the perfect temperature! A balmy -4! hah
