She is gone

Postby Burton on Mon Jan 12, 2009 2:52 pm

One week ago my best friend has gone after 16 years. It is so hard, it is such a nightmare and I am missing her so much. I never thought that the pain would be so strong. I am still seeing her walking through the house. Now the house is all empty. Maybe the worst is, that the hour she died she was in great pain and cried, before we had to put her down at 5 o´clock in the morning. It is really so hard.

Burton I am so very sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking. Just know that your baby is no longer in pain and is at the Rainbow Bridge. Losing a beloved pet is so hard, but in time you will be able to remember her and smile for all the life you shared. "Until we meet again..." Sending you my deepest sympathy. Deborah, Oliver's Mummy

I am so sorry for you loss. I know how hard it is, I was there last April. I also understand about the pain, our Boomer started having seizures in the middle of the night (he was 15) and it was horrible. I always thought when it was his time that he would go peacefully but unfortunately that is not the case most of the time. I know nothing I could possibly say here can take away the pain, but hopefully just knowing that someone cares and understands will help just a little. It does get easier with time, but it does take time........My thoughts will be with you, take care.

We know the pain you're feeling, and our words don't help much at this time. We are here for you if you need us,and hope you can get some comfort from our understanding how you feel.

Thank you very much for your support. It is very helpful that there are people out there who understand the loss we just experienced. And you are right, we also thought that she will just die one day peacefully in her basket, but unfortunately this seems to be rarely the case. I hope with the time the pain will become less.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Although words can never take your pain away, please know that we all here know how you are feeling. I lost my baby just 4 short months ago and still cry when I think of him. Please remember that your best friend is no longer in any pain. You are in my thoughts.

Now it is nearly 3 weeks ago that our friend has left us. Still lots of images of her dying ccome suddenly up and I miss her terrible. Because we live in the center of a big city and we don´t have a garden we had to cremate her. We went then last week with her ashes one evening to the parc she used to walk a lot. In this parc is a small pond with an island on it. Normally one cannot reach the island, but because it was icy cold the last weeks, the pond was frozen and we could walk on it and leave her ashes there and and light a candle. When we went back and stood on the bridge looking at the candle, in this moment a fox walked off this island over the ice and later came back again. This was somehow very peaceful and beautiful. As if she is taken care there and she is not alone. Often I have to think of this picture, the cold white scenery, the small candle on this island, and this fox who walked on the ice through the snow.

It was also strange because the parc is also in the center of town, therefore usually you never see foxes.

Burton, I do believe that someone was letting you know that your sweet friend of 16 years is in a good place now and free of pain. Remember, foxes are canines also. When you think of your friend, try to remember only the happiest of times and when those other times of sadness creep in, remember the fox.

Wishing you and your family all the best. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Oliver's Mummy

Burton, I am so sorry for your loss. I too know how much it hurts to lose a beloved companion of 16 years. I just recently had to make the decision to euthanize my best friend of 16 years. It's been 7 months and it still feels like part of me is missing. I loved my Bijou with all my heart and putting him down just completely broke mine. Hugs to you.
