I actually live on a hill, a nice steep hill. But, about a mile down the road, is a stream that must flood every spring. They tried (the town) 2years ago to put in a new culvert, but it still flooded. Then about mere yards away is the end of the road. And it is a state Route, which has been repaired countless times, and that floods too. So, we go the LONG way around to get somewhere during that time of year. Better to just stay on my happy hill!

I just took time off to take the dogs for a good walk before bedtime for them. I can not believe how freezing cold it is out there. Well below freezing, and the wind chill adds to it. I had on a scarf , hat gloves , sweatshirt, and heavy winter jacket, and it felt like I was out there in a short sleeved shirt.
Needless to say, the walk was way to short, but it may get to almost normal for a bit tomorrow, we will do our big walk then. Not at night for a while! I can hardly type, my hands are still so very cold!

Up on a hill would be nice, do you have a lot of moose around?

We do get moose, but I am never close to the camera when we see them. But, now I have a cell so, maybe I will get a picture with that this year. A lot of deer also, but luckily, (hope I don't jinx us) they don't bother the flower or vegetable gardens.
Secret, my OH pees around the gardens, and that scares them off!

Pees arounds the garden, that is so funny!! Just to think my dad spent lots of money on tonics, fences to keep the deer out. If only I knew that, I would have told him!! Our deer normally don't come down this far, even though I have seen them just a mile down the road. Never had them in the yard yet.
My same annoying neighbor lived in Maine, she talks about moose getting hit by cars. That would be bad.

The last moose fatality I had heard of was this really nice older couple they both died. But, their mineture poodle a black little guy loose in the car lived. He went with their daughter.

Sorry can't spell tonight, and have to keep back spacing because the letters are backwards.

Donna I like your Happy Hill and Violent Valley! You have a wonderful sense of humour  Maine is certainly located in one of the most beautiful spots in North America. I have visited the Canadian east coast and been to Mass. but not to Maine so I can't comment directly. We have quite a few deer around here, but no moose, and of course wild turkeys. I enjoy the wild life, except rodents (yuk!!!!!!!). My brother and his wife hit a deer on the highway, when she was pregnant, but fortunately she had her seat reclined all the way and was unhurt. My brother had a few lacerations on his face but otherwise was unharmed. He's in NZ now.

I can also see why you just might have to shovel mud. Good luck with all of that. Hopefully we'll have the wind with the thaw to dry out the ground.

My goodness, that sure is a lot of snow!!!! I dont even know what "real" snow looks like. I live in Texas, we dont get snow here, we get slush.... which would be ice and sand mixed together. Its funny because if there is even a chance of ice the whole city shuts down. No one here knows how to drive in the ice, including me. Thank goodness the icy days we had here I was off. Today it was well in the 80's and sunny! I would much rather it be 80 than snowing!
