I like the idea of a book exchange, and I also have a ton of books. :] So count me in. I really want to Charles Eisenmann's Stop! Sit! and Think! as I'm interested in his intellectual method of dog training. Unfortunately it's been out of print for a number of years and the cheapest one I could find was $400. Out of my price range. I can't find anything on the internet about his methods either, it's sad.

I have just read a lovely book called "My life with George" by Judith Summers. It is about a newly widowed woman and her eight year old son whose lives are taken over by George the king charles cavalier.

A must read for Deb and Phyrie, I feel and just a really enjoyable and moving book for any dog lover.

Oh I would enjoy that! I just finished a Jeffrey Archer novel, that I started the day Oliver had his MRI!!!! (last September). I really enjoyed it. It was called "The Fourth Estate". I left with a novel that Mum had just read, rather light weight but enjoyable, and of course the name escapes me right now as one member of my family is blasting the Bass guitar!!!

Thanks for thinking of me! Right now I'm working through Clive Barker's books (I finished Breaking Dawn the other night...it was great!!!)

I tend to pick an authour and then buy all the books by them I can get my hands on. I've read all of Charles de Lint books that I can find. What an authour! I've read most of Stephen King's, Dean Koontz's and Terry Pratchett's. I love the Pendragon books, but I'm finding them a little repetitive. I am holding back reading the third Inheritance book by Paolini. It's sitting there on the shelf, in all it's hard cover glory, but it can wait.

I also love graphic novels, and have collected all the Preacher, Constantine, Sin City, Fables, Books of Magic, Sandman, Y:The Last Man, and Swamp Thing's. I have also started on the Dark Tower graphic novels, which are amazing. If you liked the novels, you won't be disappointed in the graphic novels, trust me.

Oh, and Anne McCaffrey Dragons!! Lord, I can't forget them! I've read most of Anne Rice's stuff too.

Oh, dear, there's too many to mention. I read. A lot.

I also collect whatever books pertain to my hobby of the moment, so I am chock-full of art books, dog books, cook books, aquarium books, gardening books etc...

I also buy DVD's. I have tons of anime, children's animated movies (Lion King: best kid's movie evar!), ETC...

My tastes are eclectic to say the least!

Wow, I cant believe I haven't stumbled into this forum before! I love reading and right now I am reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Its the book before The Da Vinci Code. So far it has really kept my interest!
For anyone out there that likes the crime/drama kind of books, may I suggest author Nelson DeMille. Any of the series with caracter John Corey are very entertaining. But all of his books are wonderful. He wrote the book The Generals Daughter, which was a movie with John Travolta. Great book!
Also, yes maybe a bit juvenile but still good, its the Twilight series. I read all 4 books in the series in less than a week. I couldnt put them down.

My life with George is certainly not a heavy weight book. No thinking is involved. It is just a nice story which originally started out as newspaper article. Pleasantly entertaining.

Tracy, I've written down the title and author and plan to buy it the next time I'm at Chapters. I love reading, but I don't always find the time for it. I tend to become mildly irritated when I'm reading and being constantly interrupted and I end up reading the same sentence or paragraph five times so I give up and put the book down.

I read a book the day Tammy had her surgery and it was an incredible...and emotional...book for me. It's called "The Shack." I can't remember the author's name, but I wouldn't even mind reading it again. It was sad and moving and inspiring and interesting. I became very involved in the book and finished it from beginning to end in a 24 hour period while waiting on Tammy's 15 hour surgery to end. I have a lot of the James Patterson books and obviously many, many children's books that I screen for my classroom. "The Shack" was definitely the most memorable book I've read in the last year!

Jon Katz is a journalist and author. He has written articles and books on a number of subjects, but I would imagine that 4 the dogs is referring to the books he has written about his dogs. I believe some are border collies.

Speaking of Dean Koontz, his late golden retriever, Trixie, has "written" some books of her own. "Life is Good" was her first book, very sweet and funny. Basically, it's about a dog's philosophy toward enjoying life. The proceeds of the sale of Trixie's books are donated to Canine Companions for Independence (I think that's the name of the organization). Trixie was a retired service dog that Dean Koontz and his wife adopted.

funny you should mention him,..as i am finishing the last few pages of his book," Shattered ",...this is my second time to read this,..the story is great of course,..but i was fascinated by that journey of over 3000 miles across America,..from Philadelphia to San Francisco,...by car,..it gives a great picture of the land as you travel.

Has anyone read Nicholas Sparks? He is a fairly young writer but the way he writes is so soulful you would think he is older. Great books.

Philip - I'm a Dean Koontz fan too, I thought I had read them all but I don't remember the one you are reading now, don't think I have seen that book. I like the twists and turns in his books. I also like Stephen King.

Tracy - I'm going to look for that book too by Judith Summers. That sounds good!

I am finishing up a Danielle Steele book now.......Mirror Image........its about twins in the early 1900's. It has been a very good read, twins have always fascinated me with their connection to each other.

"Shattered" by Dean Koontz was first published in the 1970's and may not be be available new any longer. However, a lot of his books have been reprinted in recent years. I love his books and have read almost all of them. Being a lover of golden retrievers, I especially like the Koontz books that feature goldies!

For those of you who like Nicholas Sparks, I'd like to suggest "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein. It's a story about a widower coping with the death of his wife and trying to raise a young daughter. Most of the story is told by the man's dog. Very sweet!

ah yes i did know you were a Dean Koontz fan also Stephen King,..books when started,..you just have to go back to.
As Aspen's mom said that book by Dean Koontz is not as well known,..as it was written by him in 1972,..when he was twenty seven,...but he then wrote under the pen name of K. R.Dwyer ,..Warner Brothers made a Film of it.
Oh i looked at my book collection,..i have some of James Patterson's books,..alas not The Shack.
Mirror Image,..rings a bell,...did they make a film of that with Suzanne York.
