EMMA...In Loving Memory (Updated April 2012)

Eleven years ago today, at 6:10 p.m., my Emma laid her sweet head in my lap for the last time and I held her and talked to her while she died. I talk about her all the time, and thought she deserved to be memorialized on here. This photograph was taken when Emma was about 1 and a half, at my parents home. Emma was my glue, my rock, my best friend. She healed my broken heart, she participated at my wedding and she helped me bring home 2 beautiful boys.

Emma was so full of character, always making me laugh. She lived for the water and as long as it wasn't frozen, she went swimming. We went everywhere together. Emma was my co-pilot.

Among the many gifts Emma gave me, the greatest was to find Oliver. I had been looking into Cavaliers long before I knew Emma was ill, and when she died rather suddenly, it forced me to pick up the telephone and go and meet these little creatures. I believe a part of Emma lives on in Oliver, even if it's only in the red patches.

Until we meet again sweet lady...

Love Mummy xoxo

That is a wonderful tribute! She obviously was a beautiful, loving dog with a mum just as equal! May she have fun with all our dogs who have passed on until we all meet again.

Thank you Tracy and Ruby's Mom...

Tracy I call that look "the love blinkies" which is something both Emma and Oliver have in common.

Ruby's Mom, I'm glad you enjoyed my reference to the red patches. It just seems that way to me, like Oliver has been sunkissed by Emma.

Deborah, thank you for sharing Emma with us. It is a priviledge to know even that little bit about her. Dogs are wonderful healers and comforters, as well as guardians and friends. I'm glad you had that loving relationship with her and I know she's waiting for you, and while she waits, she's romping with my girls. It is so lovely she blessed your new relationship with Oliver by sun-kisses.
Hugs from me, and kisses from Cheyenne.

What a beautiful tribute! Dogs are awesome. They don't care what you look like, what kind of mood you are in, etc. They love you no matter what. Blessings to you & your Emma

Deborah,
I just read your tribute again and it is so lovely. I am sure your Sweet Lady Emma is there watching over you all and that She has sun-kissed Oliver in a very special way. Hugs to all, Elizabeth~

I appreciate everyone's sweet comments. We all love our dogs tremendously and they bring so much to our lives. It's true what Tracy says about their short lives, giving us an opportunity to enjoy more of them. Emma was a character and we had many wonderful (and some terrifying) adventures together. She loved to ride in my little 2 seater sports car and would always put her left paw on my right arm when I was trying to shift gears.

Until we meet again...
