New puppy lost to spaying surgery...

Postby britishbex on Sun Apr 19, 2009 11:59 am

Lucy was a darling puppy, she would be desperate to please you and always was gentle from the minute we got her. On Feb 9th, 2009 I took Lucy in to our vet to be spayed. I was late for work and I went to drop her off early and didnt really say goodbye. :( I was sitting at my desk at work when my cell phone rang. It was the vet. I didnt think anything of it because they had called me when my older dog had been spayed. However I knew something was wrong. The vet was choked up and said that she had started to seize and that they had given her medication. She had died. I was crushed. I did not expect my 6 month old puppy to die having routine surgery. The vet cried on the phone with me. I stayed all day at work not being able to concentrate thinking how quiet it would be at home. I got home to see my older dog and all the puppy toys everywhere. The vet came round to my house to see f I was ok. She was an angel.

There was a happy ending to this story! :) I believe that everything happens for a reason. We got a second puppy. It was strange she is the same color and has the same gentle nature. Lucy is missed everyday. Molly filled the huge hole that had been left. Life has a funny way of making things right again!

I am so sorry for you loss......what a tragic way to lose a 4 legged loved one, something you never expect to happen. I'm glad you found Molly....she sounds like a delight just like Lucy was. I hope you have many many happy years together.

When God closes a door, He opens a window!

I am so sorry you lost your beloved Lucy ... but am happy you found Molly to ease the pain. One horrible year, I lost my three older girls, but Cheyenne came into my life and made it whole again. She will never take their places in my heart, but has carved out a place of her own. Lucy will always be with you in your heart and memories, but Molly will make her own. Bless your Vet for being so caring and sensitive!

Hugs,
Sandy & Cheyenne

I really feel for you, surgery isn't without risks and we never think the worse will happen. I am so sorry it happened, delighted you found Molly. Sounds like you had a very caring and wonderful vet.

Hi,
Oh My Goodness, how sad. I have a puppy and I feel heartbroken for you. This was so sudden. Thank God for your Vet.
I am pleased that you were able to obtain another puppy and love that little one, Molly. One door closes and another door opens. Life is full of happenings to which we must adapt. All the best with your new little one. Give her a hug and kiss from my little Puggy, Cooper, who is 3 months old. Love and Hugs, Elizabeth

Hello-

I'm so sorry. I know exactly how it is to loose a dog when they're oh so healthy. I'm not sure if it's easier, or harder when you don't see it coming.

So glad to hear Molly came into your life! That's how it happened when I lost my 2 and half year old Sage. Her stomach flipped for seemingly no reason at all. But, I now have Topaz! She's an angel. Opposite from Sage. :) And you know what? (I think this is really cool) she was born the same day Sage died.....

I hope miss Molly has a wonderful long and healthy life!
