THANK YOU ALL!!!
The weekend was WONDERFUL!! I'm sorry I haven't been online for almost four days!! Thursday night before we left for Vancouver we had a lovely dinner and small birthday party at my daughter's place. I received lots of nice gifts, not the least of which was 50 individually wrapped gifts from my daughter and her fiancé (and the Grands, of course...) Paul gave me a pair of beautiful earrings, and ..get this…enough cash to buy a new computer for myself!! He said he knew that cash was a cheesy gift, but he knows nothing about computers, so couldn’t even begin to choose one for me. Computers are very personal, and he wants me to have just want I want. What a guy! Of course there was tons of other gifts, but I can’t recount them all. There’s a couple of sweaters, some lovely cashmere socks, chocolates, creams, emollients and …well, you get the idea.
We arrived at the hotel/casino about three o’clock Friday afternoon. My parents DID show up, SURPRISE!! What was even funnier (depending on your point of view) was I wasn't REALLY sure they were coming, I just had Paul's little faux pas to go on. But I got up to the room and we had forgotten a bag, so Paul went down to get it. Now, as every one knows, the first thing you do in a hotel room is?? Pee, of course!! Next?? Look out the window to see how crappy the view is!! I was overlooking the parking lot, and had a clear view of our car, and Paul at the trunk, getting the bag out. I hear a car beep, and Paul waves! I don't recognize the car, but I sure as hell recognize my enormous, bo-hunky DAD getting out!! They came!! It was great... but how do I act surprised??
So, I didn't. Paul knocked and I opened the door. He held it a tiny bit more open, and I said, "Well, come on in, everyone!" My mom was disappointed, but I knew I wouldn't be able to fool them into thinking I was surprised, so I decided honesty was best (as I usually do!). My aunt was there too, who I found out has just left her husband (the rat bastard) so that was a nice surprise too...
The first night of gambling sucked, big time. Paul had given me $300 for the weekend’s gambling, and by end of Friday night, I was already down $170!! I was bummed. Next day, not much better, but we went out for a great dinner at an Italian restaurant where I had the best Alaskan King Crabs legs I’ve ever had in a restaurant. They were so good, I swear they were caught just a couple of days ago! The service was very strange, though, with both our waitress and bus-lady very frenetic and busy. If the food hadn’t been so good, it would have been awful, but we all managed to laugh at these two running around like chickens with their heads off, instead of getting annoyed.
We hit the casino again after dinner, and although it started off very rough for me, I separated from the group, and found a machine that was paying me nicely. I ended up bringing home $500!! So, I made a profit of $200, and will be able to add that to my already not-too-bad computer fund. So, I get to start computer shopping! Yeehaw! If there is any geeks out there that want to give me advice, I’ll be glad to take it. I am looking for a good gaming machine, but have been out of the loop as far as desktops go. I used to be able to “walk the walk” computer-wise, but since I’ve bought my laptop, I haven’t had to do any upgrades (other than RAM of course…).
Kiba had a good time with the sitter, and is still improving.
We are tired, and butt-sore (from all the driving) but I’m a happy girl… Er, old lady… *sigh*
Thank you all for your well wishes. I appreciate you all.
