Here is one of my favorite pictures of Joey.
He's playing with his cousin Carson and he looks so happy!

And another one of baby Joey, way back when he was smaller than Morty

I'm so sorry RJM, I just saw this. I can't imagine what you and your family must be going through with the loss of Joey. :( Rest easy knowing that he's no longer in any pain and he'll be awaiting you at the bridge. John sends his condolences as well, it's always hard to lose a beloved pet.

Mina and Upendi send kisses and snuggles.

They are beautiful photos of Joey, RJM. What a happy boy he was. I'm sure he had a wonderful life. He certainly did in the months I've known you.

Thanks everyone...My heart is hurting so badly right now, but I know that Joey's doesn't anymore.
I'm trying to take some consolation in that thought...

RJM, I love those pictures of baby Joey! I know that his presence in your home is so sorely missed right now, as if there is a big hole, and there is. Joey is in a better place, and although I know you know that, it doesn't make it easier because you miss him right now.

If I could, I would put my arms around you and hold you oh so tightly. I know that you and Joey will be together again someday.

I've attached this link as I found it to be comforting.

We are all here for you and would love to hear anything you wish to share. Joey was very lucky to have you, as you were to have him. If I could, I would take the pain all away. Hugs angel. :|

Get the tissues ready if you're going to watch that video. But if you need to cry, let it out

RJM I'm so sorry to hear about Joey. I was hoping for the best. Stay strong and remember all the good time you had with him and that cute smile in pic one. Hugs from me and puppy kisses from Rocco and Miley.

I just found this and RJM I am oh so sorry for your loss! Take care of yourself and I send you many hugs! I know how hard it is to loose a pet, especially after that first good vet visit! :(
Take comfort in knowing that Joey is feeling good now, and looking out for you from up on the rainbow bridge!
I love the pictures of Joey, he looks like the happiest boy in that first one!

Deborah, Thank you so much for posting the Rainbow Bridge link...it was lovely!

K, You're right...I've been through so much tissue the past couple days that a few more won't make a difference

OMG Joey passed away? :( I just saw this now! I'm so sorry! I looked at his profile and he was born on the same day and year as Cujo. Its so hard to lose a family member. What happened to him?

He had a mass on his heart that ruptured and bled into the pericardial sac. The vet drained it on October 24th, but said that it could happen again at any time. So we took him to a cardiologist for an ultrasound a few days later, but as there was no blood in the sac she couldn't see a mass. We had a scheduled appointment for another ultrasound the following Tuesday (Nov 3rd). The day before his ultrasound appointment, he was perfectly fine in the morning...he ate his breakfast, played with Ruby a little...then around noon he started panting heavily and was having a hard time standing up. So I called the vet and they said bring him right in as they are also a 24 hour emergency clinic. When we got there he couldn't even get out of the car, they had to wheel him in on a gurney. They told me to wait while the vet checked him out. Within a few minutes she came in and told me he was dying. The pericardial sac was full of blood again and they could see the mass on his heart very clearly. His heart was barely beating, he was turning blue and his temperature was extremely low. She said there was nothing they could do for him...each consecutive time that the sac is drained, the thicker and less elastic it gets and the symptoms become much worse.
So I stayed with him giving him hugs and kisses while they put him to sleep.
