News Flash!..Ohio magazine has made its annual selection of the 5 best hometowns in the state, and Yellow Springs is one of them!..WOWEE ZOWIEE!!!

Before I got so involved in showing dogs I would spend a month traveling each summer just for fun. I have pretty much been coast to coast in Canada,{quite a lovely country as a whole].
... Banf is a great place to visit, picture postcard scenery.
Lots of good campsites if you dont mind shareing with the Bears, who seem to show up during the night and at lunchtime.
... Canada, I have found provides camp sites almost everywhere I have been, most are free or may ask a minimal donation as in the case of some small town parks which leave their community centers open so that the campers can have access to their showers and hot water.Wonderfull hospitality all over the place.
... One time in Toronto I was invited to camp in the owners petrol station overnight.{try that in NYC-US]

One of my favorite routes was west across Canada to Vancouver then south to LA and back east through LasVegas NV,and eastward over the rockies. When I got to Denver it was only 1200 miles to home.I have been in lots of the states where our DP friends live so I know first hand what many of you are talking about when you say its unbearabley hot in southern AZ. I have been there when it was 115 in the shade. It gets pretty nasty in Kansas in the summer and there IS no shade! It was allways nice to return home to YSO in september when foliage is lush and hot is about 80f.

I can't wait until I can drive across Canada. It's been a goal of mine since I was....17? I love the coasts. Vancouver Island and Cape Breton Island are my favourite places. :)

Richard that is wonderful! Sounds like your town is lovely place to live. OH and I are planning a Canada trip next summer, first to Glacier Plark, then to the Stampede and onto Banff.

Hey Tracey; I had a good time in London too,not nearly enough time to see all I would have liked. There is SO much history to absorb. We would have liked to visit Scotland but that was an all day trip. Some of my ancestors came from England in 1640 and settled along the James river in Virginia. I am told that 2 relatives were sighners of the Magna Charta. The whole country is loaded with exciteing history. The train ride from Dover to London was through the gently rolling countryside with the low stone walls around the fields, beautifull, right out of the movies... I truely enjoyed England...Oh yes, Thank you for the kind words, we all like to help whenever we can......Woofs..Richard

Wow Altaylor; Just think about all the places you can go and the things you can do in the next 60 years or so, it boggles the mind. I envy you.Myself I'm "heading for the last roundup"as the cowboys would say.

I hope you get to see all of Canada and more. Theres allways England and Europe,Greece is good and you might like Daytona Beach, Florida. The beach is miles long and you can even drive on it. Disney world is nearby, just west of Orlando.
...The beach is popular with the College crowd during spring break and is busy during car and motorcycle races after the college crowd leaves. The aerea is a favourite destination of vacationing Canadians. In the winter months It is better to fly to Jacksonville or Orlando and rent a car since driveing in the mountains can be difficult.
...There are also dandy beaches in Virginia and Los Angeles. Actually there are beaches all down the west coast of the US but lots of them are not safe for swiming until you get down near LA.

However if you wish to swim in the ocean you cant beat Maui ,the ocean is chrystal clear and as warm as bath water, the air temperature is 70-80f day and night and there is allways a nice breeze. [the air smells of flowers]....Richard

:D

The top places on my list for travel outside of my own country are Australia and Scotland. Australia mainly because of the amazing landscape and plethora of animals that you can't find anywhere else in the world. Scotland again because of countryside landscape and it is where my family originated from (generations ago).

I would very much like to go to Greece. Also to Disney World :P

Kian;...We have Clifton Gorge, you guys have the Grand Canyon,[something for everyone].

Glacier is a pretty place, waterfalls, grizzely bears and Mooseies in the lake. Canadian Glacier continues to the north.[there is where they dump all of the bears which have been being bad over in Banf],mostly mooching food and hanging out in campground, that sort of thing. Geting too cozy with the tourists is NOT condoned by the Rangers.

Definitely take your camera, there is picture postcard scenery for 160 miles north from Banf before you run out of road. Be sure to see Lake Louise, the first town north of Banf. A big old chateau style hotel by the lake with snow caped mountains at the other end....FANTASTIC!!!

I have never been through Calgary at the right time for the Stampede but am told that it is quite an event. I am sure you and your OH will enjoy every bit of the trip. Let us know how it goes.....Rock On!!!....Richard
