That must have been very difficult to write, RJM. Thanks for giving us the details, hard as it must have been.

I, too, and I'm sure many of us, have been in the same shoes as you. It's hard, but it's one of the things we guarantee our beloved pets when we make our contract with them and bring them into our families. We agree to care for them the best we can, keep them in the best health we can, and when we can't do that any longer, we agree to let them go. It's difficult, but that's the deal.

RIP, Joey, and welcome Brody...

Wow, that must have been very difficult for you to write. I have tears in my eyes just reading. You do have someone who needs you and it appears he will fit in perfectly.

that is so sad. I have tears in my eyes. But we all know he's better now, and playing with other dogs. On Dec 1st, we can both celebrate Joey and Cujo's first birthday in the meadows by rainbow bridge :)

and as for getting a new puppy, Take as much time as you need. If you feel like you should get one to help you heal, go right ahead. No dog could replace Joey, I got Stewie about 1 month and a half after Cujo passed away. Not to replace him, but to honor him. Because I know that he would want me to make another dogs life as good as his was.

RJM, you must take consolation in that Joey had a good morning, playing with Ruby. It sounds like it happened fast, and you were able to be with him. He knows how much he is loved and I believe in some way Joey has had had paw in bringing Brody to you.

Well, my husband and I had a good cry this afternoon.

He stopped on the way home to pick up Joey's ashes...when he got there they gave him the can placed in a velvet drawsting bag...it was very nice. But along with that, they had also made an impression of Joey's paw print in plaster with beads that spelled out his name. As soon as I saw it the tears came.

It's a remembrance of Joey we will always treasure and I'm so happy to have it.

RJM...what a wonderful treasure! It makes me teary to look at it. I'm sure you were quite surprised, and bless whomever took the time to create such a wonderful, lasting, tangible memory.

Thank you for sharing that. It is truly beautiful. :|

A very wonderful treasure to remember Joey. This was the first time I read about your last day with Joey, my heart went out to you. Joey knows he was loved very much and what a wonderful life he had with you.

RJM, How very sweet of the person that did that for you. We have a place to take your pet after they are deceased called Paw in Heaven but they have never done anything like that before. That is very special and a wonderful tribute to Joey. He will asways be in your heart. Cyndy

It's been two whole years since our sweet Joey's been gone. The time seems to have gone by so swiftly.
Wasn't it just yesterday that he was throwing his ball at us and roooooing for us to throw it back?
We still have your ball, Joseph Ronald Schmiggly, until we see you again.
