Saying Hi and HNY!

Postby Phyrie on Sat Jan 02, 2010 7:52 pm

Hi gang! Well, this has been a whizz-bang of a trip! We have been very busy, what with drinking beer and losing our collective shirts in the many accomodating casinos here in the desert. My mom's Internet connection has been sketchy at best, and when I do manage to get on, she peers over my shoulder, anxious to play with her machine herself. I've been seen a couple of times sending emails, and I hear, " Jeez, who are you talking to NOW??" None of them quite understand that the friends I've made are real, and I feel a need to keep in contact. I tend to get an eye roll, and a smirk.
I come by it honestly, anyway!!

I am grabbing a couple of seconds while the gang is outside having afternoon cervasas. My mom bought a new laptop yesterday, and I've spent all day upgrading, installing and doing all the maintenance chores you must do when you buy a new machine. It's been fairly easy (I talked her into paying the small fee to have the "Geek Squad" do most of the upgrades) but it IS time consuming. I still haven't been able to access the Internet with my machine, so if anyone has emailed and I haven't answered, I'm sorry...

We talked to the babysitter yesterday, and Kiba is having a great holiday. He was even going to go on his first plane trip, but the flight was fogged in. Too bad, I would have been very interested in hearing how he did in his little suitcase carrier, as I would love to have that option to take him out to Calgary to see my parents. Just the fact that my very experienced dogsitter was willing to take him indicates she has full confidence in him anyway!!

Debbie (the sitter) says we will be very happy with Kiba's recovery process, as she has been gently increasing his walks daily, and he is showing great improvement over the last couple of weeks. Oh, I sure hope so!! It will be so good to see my little guy happy again! Debbie says he seems to pine for us a bit, but I’m sure he’s fine. It’s OK if he misses us a little, right?

The weather here is finally warming up, just as we’re preparing to leave. Paul still hasn’t had a call-back to his job, but he wants to be home anyway, in case they call. We are going to Globe tomorrow with some people my parents know, and then Paul golfs on Monday, and we leave for the coast on Tuesday. I just don’t know where the time went!!
I just wanted to say “Hi and Happy New Year!”. I will be back in front of my own computer by the weekend, I think (unless Paul decides another round of golf is in order) so hopefully we can be a little more “face to face” then.

I miss you all, and I wish I had been able to communicate more reliably on this trip.
MM, I am so glad you decided to stay, and RJM, well done!! I look forward to talking to you all…

Love, Phyrie

It is SO good to hear from you!

I have missed you terribly as I'm sure everyone else has as well. I hope the weather is good for your trip home.

Bless Kiba....he is doing so well in anticipation of your arrival. I know you miss him at least as much as he misses you. I hope you enjoyed your time in the warmth, with your parents. You know I wish I could do the same.

Be safe, and Happy New Year sweet friend!

Phyrie,

Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip. It sounds like Kiba is doing great too, and I'm sure he'll be thrilled to have you back home once again.

Happy New Year!

Thanks, RJM. I think this trip has convinced us that we won't travel without him again. There is another couple here from BC with their Shih Tzhu, and they seem to be managing quite fine. Mind you, they do have a camper, rather than just a car, but I think with some planning, it's totally doable. Besides, Kiba would be so much nicer than their fat little yappy thing... *sigh* I miss my dog....

Hi Phyrie, happy new year to you. I hope Paul has good news when you get back. That would be a fab way to start the year.

I'm glad Kiba is missing you. I would be disappointing if he didn't care that you weren't there. We've been missing you too. I'm glad you enjoyed your sunshine break. Safe travelling.

Phyrie so good to hear from you! I know you miss Kiba, I missed Allie when I was gone for 8 days but she did quite well. Kiba sounds like he is in good hands and keeping in touch helps. I say by all means if you can take Kiba with you on the next trip, do.

Are you going to meet up with MM, I hope you do. She said she can meet you halfway, I can call her if you need me to.

I miss you and your vacation sounds wonderful, just don't go to the casinos on Indian pay day!

Phyrie, I think the next trip you take should include Kiba, if possible. I find that Oliver usually settles quite quickly once he realizes that we are taking a "road trip". As long as we stop to let him out every few hours, he is just fine. Besides, you would be happier to have Kiba along with you.

Continued safe travels angel.

Hello Phyrie! So glad to hear you're enjoying your vacation, and I can definitely say we've missed you around here. There has been more than a time or two when I've wished I had your way with words. :)

Take care and have a safe trip back!

Hi Phyrie,
It is so good to hear from you and it is great to be back here on the DP. I've been away since early November 2009, for some unknown reason and for some reason, today was the day I was able to login, after trying every day since. I changed my password one more time and this time it worked, even though it was the same old password.
Phyrie, sounds like fun drinking beer and losing your shirts in the Casinos. I hate to gamble personally, but I do it on a daily basis. I, too, miss your firey messages when you are really in rare form. Love it.
Do enjoy yourselves and have a safe trip home. Hugs to little Kiba darling when you get there.
Hugs, Elizabeth
Elizabeth and Miss Katie =o)

Thanks all. It's nice to know I'm missed...

I'm just stopping in for a second. I have to run and shower and start preparing dinner for the "farewell" tonight. Paul says, depending on how much partying there is, we may have to leave on Wednesday!! I think he's kidding, but we'll see tomorrow morning.

I will be home by Monday, and will try to catch up as soon as I can. I dreamed about Kiba most of last night, him all excited and wiggly to see us. I can hardly wait! *sigh*
