Hi gang! Well, this has been a whizz-bang of a trip! We have been very busy, what with drinking beer and losing our collective shirts in the many accomodating casinos here in the desert. My mom's Internet connection has been sketchy at best, and when I do manage to get on, she peers over my shoulder, anxious to play with her machine herself. I've been seen a couple of times sending emails, and I hear, " Jeez, who are you talking to NOW??" None of them quite understand that the friends I've made are real, and I feel a need to keep in contact. I tend to get an eye roll, and a smirk.
I come by it honestly, anyway!!
I am grabbing a couple of seconds while the gang is outside having afternoon cervasas. My mom bought a new laptop yesterday, and I've spent all day upgrading, installing and doing all the maintenance chores you must do when you buy a new machine. It's been fairly easy (I talked her into paying the small fee to have the "Geek Squad" do most of the upgrades) but it IS time consuming. I still haven't been able to access the Internet with my machine, so if anyone has emailed and I haven't answered, I'm sorry...
We talked to the babysitter yesterday, and Kiba is having a great holiday. He was even going to go on his first plane trip, but the flight was fogged in. Too bad, I would have been very interested in hearing how he did in his little suitcase carrier, as I would love to have that option to take him out to Calgary to see my parents. Just the fact that my very experienced dogsitter was willing to take him indicates she has full confidence in him anyway!!
Debbie (the sitter) says we will be very happy with Kiba's recovery process, as she has been gently increasing his walks daily, and he is showing great improvement over the last couple of weeks. Oh, I sure hope so!! It will be so good to see my little guy happy again! Debbie says he seems to pine for us a bit, but I’m sure he’s fine. It’s OK if he misses us a little, right?
The weather here is finally warming up, just as we’re preparing to leave. Paul still hasn’t had a call-back to his job, but he wants to be home anyway, in case they call. We are going to Globe tomorrow with some people my parents know, and then Paul golfs on Monday, and we leave for the coast on Tuesday. I just don’t know where the time went!!
I just wanted to say “Hi and Happy New Year!”. I will be back in front of my own computer by the weekend, I think (unless Paul decides another round of golf is in order) so hopefully we can be a little more “face to face” then.
I miss you all, and I wish I had been able to communicate more reliably on this trip.
MM, I am so glad you decided to stay, and RJM, well done!! I look forward to talking to you all…
Love, Phyrie
