Last year I took a course called "the novel" for one of my english requirements and we had to read 5 novels.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë - Absolutely loved it! This novel was very interesting, entertaining, suspenseful, and a beautiful love story
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë - I had a really hard time getting into this novel. It was very dark and it took me a long time to get a good picture of the separate characters. I actually never finished the last few chapters
Agnes Gray by Anne Brontë - Anne was the youngest of the sisters and this novel is short, sweet and simple. Cute but nothing to write home about.
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad - This novella is not something I would have chosen the read. It's disturbing at times and not a lighthearted read by any means.
Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood - A very interesting piece of science fiction. This is also disturbing at times but very enlightening.
