To Pearl's Mum...
It sounds like Pearl is a good weight. I wouldn't be concerned about a puppy being overweight, especially one so young. If you are feeding her according to the guidelines you should have received from your breeder (or your vet, and I think if my memory is correct, your sister is a vet) then everything should be just fine.
A word of caution about eating leaves...Oliver's breeder made a point of mentioning that he will want to eat the leaves and not to let him as they do or can cause tremendous tummy upset. He came home in February when the ground was covered in snow but she was still concerned enough about the leaves to mention it.
Sail, I am pleased to hear that Maggie is keeping her svelte figure. Cavaliers do tend to gain weight after age 3. Oliver was up to 20 pounds by age 4. He became ill just before he turned 5, and has gained quite a bit of weight since then. His activity level, as well as his medication are a factor. He is fed the least amount of food possible.
As far as parasites go, I totally concur that it is better to be safe than sorry and restrict their exposure. I am hoping that Henry and Oliver will have more activity this spring and summer together. They weren't able to do much last summer.
I went shopping for the dogs this afternoon and managed to find an adorable little key chain in pewter that actually has a Cavalier on it! I had to buy it. We do love our Cavaliers!
