There are so many kennels that are like country clubs for dogs, in Montreal. Surely you could find one, that is less "Shelter like" (since that bothers you as it would me too) and more "home like". I always miss my dogs when I am on vacation, so I take several pictures with me, and I call and check on them while I am gone.

Perhaps a friend of yours could move in while you are away if you don't find a suitable kennel. I lived in Montreal for a while and I know there are excellent facilities for dogs in and around the city.

Good luck

I know there not fighting bred dogs, just because there are labeled under the gameness in the fighting ring insome places doesnt always mean they were bred for it. Dogo argentino were bred to hunt big game like boar and jaguar and they are labeled under it here. Just because a dog is labeled under a pit doesnt mean there a killer pits are NOT killers, the people who made them like that are.

Erm, iheartmydog? You may want to check out the new posting rules for a bit of guidance to posting. I'm thinking of Rule #4. in particular:

4. As an English-speaking forum, we appreciate correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If necessary, please break up your post into paragraphs. It will help us to help you.

The reason I bring this up, again, is you seem to have trouble making yourself understood. The post of yours above mine is virtually unreadable. I don't feel I should have to spend time trying to figure out what you're talking about, because you refuse to spell check, and proof-read. If we can't read what you're saying, no one can get any help from your posts.

I know you were aware. I was clarifying for the OP who seemed rather alarmed when you classified her dog as being "in the fighting ring." You also said the pit bull wasn't a breed, which I wanted to correct. The APBT is a breed. But yes, there are dogs that look similar to pit bulls and are categorized with them. Unfairly in most cases, exemplified by my experience with uneducated landlords.

I'm not sure which airline you are looking at flying your dog out on but I know most of are quite expensive. It may work out that the cost of boarding is cheaper than bringing her with you. In addition, not all airlines have climate control in the hold and will not allow pets during certain periods (too hot / too cold).

Air travel for animals can be quite stressful and as Phyrie pointed two long trips in two weeks is a bit much.

APBT is a breed but a pit bull is not... pit refers to the ring. The APBT's actualy nicknames are american pit bull, or pit bull terrier.

Heres one link i found, its the only one i remeber off the top of my head, i found some from rescues and other organizations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_Bull

iheartmydog, just a note for the future...wikipedia is not a reliable source of information as it can (and is) edited by absolutely anyone who may or may not have the credentials or knowledge to be spouting such information. It's amazing how many university/college students think it is acceptable to cite wikipedia as a source of information...and I think it would be a good lesson to get out of the habit now :)
