Profile: ...Once, during her holidays, a girl went to visit her grandmother. After they exchanged presents and drunk their tea with some vanilla pancakes, the grandmother fell asleep in her armchair, and the girl climbed the stairs to the second floor, and went into a room where there were stocked a lot of old grandmothers toys, with which she used to play when she was a little girl; teddy bears, dolls and their little toy housesâ¦Because even if she`s old now, she used to be a little girl, too, right? So, our little girl liked to come into the room and she always found something new in there. But on that one day during the holidays, she found a big old book. When she looked at the scratched cover, she saw some words in a strange language. âI wonder what this meansâ she thought and opened the book. On the first page there was a drawing of a dog. But it wasn`t just a dog! The dog was wearing a marvelous dress, with brilliants in it. âShe must be a real queen! Or maybe she`s a countess â¦â the girl thought. On the next page there appeared a Cavalier wearing a red general costume with a blue ribbon across. And then, as the pages turned over, more and more dogs in costumes appeared. Probably it was a big Organization of Honorable Dogs. But not just honorable, but the most beautifully dressed and gorgeous ones. The little girl was browsing through those unusual portraits all evening. When she finally fell asleep, she went to The Magical Kingdom of dogs in her dreams, and met her friends from that wonderful book she was looking at earlier. Later, she went into the stock room with the old toys, and looked through her favorite book, examining every little detail of the drawings and trying to memorize them. But once, the book disappeared⦠It was so strange, because nobody could steal it or hide it anywhere. It just magically disappeared⦠And then, the little girl decided to become an artist and to draw who she saw in that book full of mysteries. She memorized all the dogs with their marvelous costumes and beautiful eyes that were so closely looking at her from the pages of the book. And her dream came true: the girl grew up, passed the exams into the Saint-Petersburg Academy of Baron Shtiglitc, learned the technique of drawing and painting and became a wonderful artist. And no wonder, because she had so talented teachers.
