Profile: ~Shelter dogs are not broken. They've simply experienced more life then other dogs. If they were people, we'd call them wise. They'd be the ones with things to tell and stories to write~ Hey I'm Haley and I live in MN aka the land of 10,000 lakes. (even though there's way more than that..) Anyways so I love my dog, Riley he's such a good dog I'm going to post more pictures of him that are more recent because he looks a lot bigger and he's got a longer coat now. I also Have 2 other dogs that I'm going to add a little later when i get the pictures from my camera uploaded onto here. Quincey is also a really great dog and i love him just like he's my own. I work at the animal shelter that's near my house, I might add some pictures of the adoptable doggies there. Things i'm really passionate about is playing the piano and violin, I am taking lessons in both and i hope to continue for the rest of my life. I've written a few songs and played them on the piano, but they're not that good I try to challenge myself. I also LOVE to write and i have a few stories I would really like to get published when i'm older. I believe that dogs are dogs, no matter what the size, shape, breed, whatever. They all deserve a chance. And you shouldn't have a problem or grudge against a certain breed unless you have a good reason like you've had a bad experience with them. There are tons of dogs out there that are homeless and would love a home to love them. ADOPT DON'T SHOP!!!

My mom and Dad got Riley for me as a surprise (You would say that is was a bday gift even though it wasn't for a while) After our old lab Eli had to be put down 6 years before, Me and my sister always wanted another lab. During those 6 years we had Chloe who drowned, Max who needed a friend and Millie who needed a little brother. Anyways... So my dad's friend that he works with heard that we'd been looking to get a lab and said that her golden was going to have puppies... It was no lab but better than nothing. My mom wasn't too thrilled with it but this was something I REALLY REALLY wanted. I begged and begged and told them how good of care I would take of him (yes, I wanted a boy!) And I would train him... ect. My sister kind of forgot about it and didn't really care anymore. Then my dad found out that the puppies weren't going to be golden's anymore, their neighbor dog had gotten loose..So now they would be lab/golden ret. mixes. Long story short, After the puppies were born my mom and dad went out for a "date" and came back with a puppy that I had wanted for YEARS! I was so happy my mom said she thought I was going to faint. I knew that he was a boy, and I knew what I would name him. Riley.. It just fit perfectly! He's 3 years old now (looking more like a lab then golden) and my forever friend. I know he'll never stab me in the back or talk about me... And he'll always be there for me. Riley loves to run beside the four wheeler and go to the lake to swim, play ball and soccer in the yard, chase Millie&Max around and just hang out with me at the end of the day on my couch. Yep, the pup's got it pretty good here and we LOVE him. (;View Profile
Quincey is a 5 or so year old golden retriever that belongs to my cousin. He likes to play ball and chase us around the house and also play with my dogs. He's a big goof ball just like Riley and this will be both his and Riley's first year hunting. We're looking forward to a good turnout! But even if we don't do so well, we love the dogs too much to ever be upset and mad that they didn't do as well as we wanted.View Profile
Eli was our first dog we ever owned as a family. And we're not sure if he was pure bred because the lady didn't know who the dad was. We weren't really looking into getting a dog but my sister Megan really wanted a puppy. At the time I was terrified of dogs after being nipped at my by friend's dogs. We were coming out if the mall and walking to our car when a lady with a puppy in the back seat was sitting at the curb with her windows down, she also has the mother dog with her. My sister wanting a puppy said "Awww Daddy, look! A puppy.. That's the kind of puppy I want dad." The lady overhearing Megan asked if we wanted him, for FREE. She said He was the last of the litter so she was just going to take him and the mother to the animal shelter. My dad is a softy so he said, fine we'll take him. I was literally sobbing I hated dogs and I was scared of him, he was big. Over the years I got used to having a dog and I grew to love Eli, this was also when our cousin's had their first golden named Amos. Eli was getting pretty old and started to get sick, but we didn't really think anything about it. One day it just exploded from him and we knew we had to say goodbye to our gentle giant. He had tumors in his brain and he was in pain, He couldn't control himself anymore. My dad went alone to put him down knowing that Megan wouldn't be able to stand there and watch her puppy be put to sleep. My dad said that was the hardest thing he ever had to do. He felt like he was loosing a child. We lost our best friend that day, but we'll never loose all the memories we made with Eli. A week later we won a trip to Florida, it was fun but all we could think about was Eli. When we got back, the house was just so quiet it wasn't the same. A year later we got another dog... After Eli died things weren't the same without a dog around. It was just too quiet, so my dad surprised us with a new puppy on our way to my grandparents house. I remember the lady brought our the mom and dad and 4 little beagle puppies to our car and told us to choose one. Of course we chose the most lively one! A couple years later Chloe had puppies with my Aunt's beagle Chewy. We found them all loving homes with responsible people. Then about 3 months after we went camping over the fourth of July. Chloe was scared to death of loud firework and thunder noises and escaped the camper when my dad opened the door. We look and looked for her all night long I had to go back to the camper I was sobbing and thought I was going to throw up because I was afraid of what might happen to our scared little dog. The last they saw her was running in front of a car almost getting hit and jumping into the river. We left the campground without a dog that day. About a week later our friends that live down the river from the campground called us and said they found Chloe's body dead in the water. My dad went after work to pick it up so we could bury her in our back yard. We ended up moving from that house to another and it was so hard leaving our Chloe's body and grave behind. I miss her waking me up every morning, going on walks to the lake and playing ball in the yard with her. Chloe will never be forgotten.View Profile
Chloe had 4 beautiful puppies here are some pictures we got of them. They were are placed in wonderful new homes and we still get updates about them. Jess, Lilly, Gabe, and Tilly, 2 males and 2 femals. They spent most of their time with "cousin" dogs, in order to get socialized before new homes. You will see other dogs in the pictures with them. Those are the "cousin" dogs. aka my cousin's dogs.View Profile
