My baby boy is almost 9 years old (12/1/01), has had 2 knee replacements and has saved my life twice!!! He is my love, my life & my best friend. His name is Dozer, he has been with me since he was 6 1/2 weeks old and he has never left my side!!!! Dozer was such a butterball that the people I got him from were calling him "Fat Boy Slim". He is half pitbull and half rottweiler, a pit-weiler if you will. His dad is a "Grand Champion" show dog, a black American Pit Bull Terrier named Midnight and his mom was another family pet, a Rottweiler named Mystery. Dozer was an "oops" puppy and therefore cannot be a show dog b/c he is a mixed breed. The litter consisted of 3 pups and Dozer was the only one that survived. As soon as I saw him I knew he was meant to be mine. He has been through so much with me; an abusive marriage, an even worse divorce and alot of personal turmoil. He has held me up through all of it. Without him I don't know if I could have turned it all around. Granted, he has had his troubles too. He has an underactive thyroid condition (hence the weight) and weighs 148 lbs., he has arthritis and early stages of hip displaysia, and he has TWO hind leg knee replacements, which FYI Pet Insurance does NOT cover! I had to get a second job just to make sure he could have his surgeries done (3 months apart) and convince the surgeon to give me a payment plan so he could do the surgeries up front. He has made a miraculous recovery (walks on an underwater treadmill for 30 mins twice a week) and you wouldn't even know he had them done except that it is more difficult to get the weight off now b/c he can't run around like he used to. Dozer has saved my life twice. One time I was choking on food and fell to the floor on my hands and knees, at first he was just licking my face until he realized I was in trouble and he got so scared that he jumped up on my back, yes all 150 lbs of him, and the jump dislodged the food from my throat. Coincidence-maybe, Life saver-definitely! The other time, was after my divorce, I was in the shower and came out to Dozer running back and forth in front of a window like a mad dog, foaming at the mouth, barking, growling, whining, etc. I saw glass on the floor, apparently someone broke a window and tried to come in, until they were surprised by the dog! You never know what COULD have happened, but didn't because of my baby! I live every day for Dozer and he for me. We are two peas in a pod and I love him so much! And now, since Xmas Eve 2009, Dozer has a new "foster" brother. A kitty cat (10 months old) named Tyler. He has feline leukemia so it makes him rather unadoptable, but it is NOT transmittable to dogs or humans, only other cats, so we decided to give him a home & some love. He is just like a little brother to Dozer, he is his SHADOW!!! But Dozer is SO good with him and now he has a little playmate when Mommy is at work! SADLY AND SUDDENLY ON JUNE 3, 2010 MY ANGEL, MY LOVE, MY BEST FRIEND AND MY WHOLE WORLD CAME TUMBLING DOWN ON ME WHEN DOZER PASSED AWAY. I AM COMPLETELY DEVASTATED, I MISS HIM TERRIBLY AND WILL LOVE HIM FOREVER & EVER...

Kody was our "family dog" growing up. Actually he was my Dad's dog and best friend. We got Kody as a baby, 7 weeks old maybe, from the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, NJ while I was away at school. He was a rambunctious puppy but the best little cuddler. My Dad has always had a way with dogs, they are always so well trained. They never need to walk on a leash, they know commads, tricks and are always with him by his side. He made sure to have a fenced in yard at his business so the dog could go to work with him every day & he always drove a convertible & did Kody ever love the breeze! Kody was a shepherd mix (we think a little shepherd, a little lab and a little collie) but whatever he was he was the best dog for 15 years!!!!

I got Savannah on June 18th. I was not looking for another dog as my baby of 8.5 yrs had just passed, but I came across her picture on petfinder and something told me I had to meet her. So I did. Her story is a sad one. She apparently was bred and had puppies and then discarded like trash and tied to a fence in Philadelphia for ACC to find. Nobody knows what happened to her babies...They (ACC) brought her to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) shelter. She ended up in foster care b/c she wasn't doing well in the shelter. I met her on Sunday, fell in love with her within 5 minutes (and she was the 5th dog I had met that week...I was just humoring my family who thought I needed to get another dog RIGHT AWAY), went back on Monday to drop off my application and check for the adoption fee and brought her home 4 days later. By the time she got home with me we found out that she was infested with fleas and had a staph infection from biting and scratching at the flea bites (turns out she is allergic to flea bites), after that cleared up, we had a small bout with kennel cough, and then to keep the momentum, she got tapeworms which the vet said were from the past fleas...but I refused to give up on this girl, she was too precious and now that she is perfectly healthy...she is thriving! She is almost a year and a half old (her DOB is 3/2/09) and weighs approx 50 lbs. I was told that she was cat friendly but I found out that she is not so much, but we are working on it, and the cat (Bianca) seems to like the chase and seems to hold her own against Savannah...LOL Savannah can be lying on the floor, minding her own business and Bianca will run up, bite her on the head and run away. That's how she tells Savannah that she wants to play :) Savannah is a great dog. She came to me crate trained, house trained, walks EXCELLENTLY on a leash, loves people, loves other dogs (and she goes to "Camp Bow Wow" doggie day camp a few times a week), loves children and is getting along with my Bianca OK for now...she is a GREAT dog who has also just passed her evaluation to become a therapy dog!! We can't wait to show what a great dog a Pitbull can be and how this breed is just so misunderstood! We will be going to libraries, children's hospitals and assisted living facilities soon!
