(full name) Sam Jo Dug Jake Helm: This crazy dog is my baby. He was taken away from his mommy a little too early, so I always have to be with him. Sam is full of energy and if you just glance at him, you'll see his tail wagging away. Our neighbor told us that his dog, Buddy, was a Daddy! So, we loaded up and we went to the mother's house. (The mommy is Charlie. Yes, I know, a weird name for a female dog.) I had no clue that I was going to get a puppy that day. My mom made it sound like she had some things to drop off at their house. I never would have guessed that I was going to get a puppy! We drove up to the house and I remember hearing all those puppies and rushing around the furniture to get to them. My grandmother suddenly asked me if I wanted one. I was so excited, that I didn't really care which one I got. My grandad, who always knows best, picked up Sam and handed him to me. Instant love! So we took Sam as well as another dog we named Bo. (Bo was a gift for our friends.) A couple of weeks later, my friend showed up with Abby, (or Coda at the time) claiming that her dad didn't like her and she was giving her to us. I was so excited to have another dog, and Sam and Abby were instant friends. So in February of '06, we took Sam and Abby to get their yearly shots. If you've read Abby's profile, you know what happened to her. Well, that happened to Sam, but it wasn't as bad. His allergic reaction to the shots required a few hours at the Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) and some medicine. Soon he was back to normal. Sam is still with us today and is living a happy life. Sam is still his clingy, stupid self, even though he misses Abby. I will love Sam forever!

(full name) Abby Mechelle Coda Helm: This sweet but mischievous dog was my darling. Abby wasn't as athletic as Sam, but she was definitely smarter than him. We got our first dog, Sam, from the same litter that we got Abby. Their dad, Buddy, actually lives next door. Abby looked exactly like Buddy. My friend had Abby before I did, but she had to give her to us because her dad didn't like Abby. (At that time she was named Coda.) But as soon as Abby and Sam met again, they were instantly best friends! In Feburary of 2006, we had to give Abby and Sam their yearly shots. It turns out that Abby was actually allergic to the shots. She had a reaction that was like she was bleeding inside herself! So, we rushed her to the Animal Emergency Clinic (AEC) and spent hours in the lobby. We didn't know if Abby would live or die. My mom came back from where Abby was being kept with bad news. The vet told her that no dog they had ever had lived through this. But there was hope. The other owners waited an hour before they loaded up their dogs to take them to the AEC. We only waited five minutes. So Abby could possibly survive. But that was unlikely. So the doctors kept Abby for a bit and things started to look up. Abby was wagging her tail when we saw her, like she was meeting an old friend again. Soon we took her home. For the years after that, Abby got grey hairs and her life span was cut in half. But she was still my sweet, smart Abby. Her life met it's end in the spring of 2011, but I will always cherish the times I've spent with her.I will always know that Abby had a good life. I love you, Abby! :)
