Jess is in a word - a terrorist! She's not that bright and is cheaky beyond belief! But she's her mothers baby, and her mother loves her to bits. Jess was bought from the same breeder as her sister, Olivia, who sadly passed away when she was just a couple of months old. Jess loves to sleep in the big bed and creeps in in the middle of the night when mom and dad are sleeping. If she jumps on the bed and you tell her to get off, she will slink back to a space where she is clearly of the oppinion that you can no longer see her and wait, a few moments later she will progress a little further and so this will continue till she's firmly ensconsed in the middle of the bed - her parents have given up. She truly is a delight though, and if her energy could be bottled we would no longer need oil or coal!

Cassey has had a typical dog's life till recently. She enjoys bugging the little geko's that are outside and once managed to have an allergic reaction to getting hold of one once. She loves chews, hoofs and popcorn. In 2008 she had a prolapsed disk and underwent surgery, after a minor complication of a pinched nerve, which led to a second operation she recovered quickly. Earlier this year she started having back pain and after a while on drugs, her mom decided it was not a good idea to keep her permanently medicated. Cassey then went for hydrotherapy to improve her back and strengthen her left hind leg - Michael Phelps watch out, she's a demon in the pool and loves to swim and do balancing exercises on her boogie board. All medicine has stopped, bar the odd homeopathic squirt of liquid when she starts acting up in the cold weather. She has steps that she uses to get onto the bed and couch and she's practically her old self.

Othello is the oldest in the family, and has the most amazing nature, also known as "baby boy" because he is like a child to his mother, not just a dog. He knows exactly when mom is upset and lets her hold onto him tightly and have a good cry. He's got some post traumatic stress issues after a breakin a couple of years ago, but nothing that a lot of love and kisses cannot take care of. He was once a little budding Houdini and kept getting out of the yard. From chewing through plastic covering to climbing (yes, climbing like what a cat would do) up the gate and over. He hates fireworks, crakers, and lightning and new years is always interesting. He's the only puppy that sleeps in his bed the whole night and every night (well, bar a few). He loves to play fetch, treats and chews.

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Olivia came into our lives in December 2005 after I saw her at the pet store. When I looked at her and the other puppies that were in the cage, she was so much smaller - clearly the runt of the litter. My heart broke I knew that there was a very slim chance that someone would take her because of how she looked, and I knew I had to take her home. I guess I should have senced that she had problems, and I had my suspicions but I believed that we could give her a good home and she would grow up like our other two dachshunds. One Friday afternoon, after lying on the bed with her, she could not stand when I picked her up and put her down on the grass. I rushed her off to the vet, but shortly after I arrived she gave her final breath and there was nothing the vet could do to save her. When I went to say goodbye in the back room of the practice, I noticed how big she looked, almost as if she was as big as she would have been fully grown. I know what I think may not be quite right, but I pray that she has a special place in heaven, has toys and treats a plenty, has a yard that is never ending for running and playing, has friends to run and play with and a warm bed to snuggle up in for rest. God bless her soul, she was beautiful.
