In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

This is loving memory of Cocoa, the sister to my puppy Damien. She was born with a heart murmur and we were made aware of it from the breeder. No one could have known though how bad it actually was. We had picked up both brother and sister just after the 6 week mark. Cocoa was always tired out a bit faster than her brother, but all seemed all right. She was bigger than her brother and loved to sneak up on him and attack him. The puppies played constantly together almost non-stop. We had brought the two home the first week in January. Around Valentines day we noticed that Cocoa was laboring to breath more than usual, she was lethargic, wouldn't eat or drink, and she sat with her head up on a stool to be able to breath. I took her to the vet's ASAP, and found out her little heart wasn't pumping blood or oxygen to the rest of her organs. Her organs had already started to decomp and there was nothing we could do to save her. The nurses put on oxygen to help her breathe while we made the hardest decision ever! No one wanted her to suffer anymore, she had been in our lives for such a short glorious time and it just didn't seem fair for this to happen. We stayed with her and talked with her, and kissed and hugged her and hoped she knew how much she was loved. As hard as it was we made the decision to end her suffering and stayed right by her side as the light went out in her beautiful green eyes. She is still greatly missed every day. Our little angel Cocoa!

Max is a 4 year old Newfoundland who was adopted from his old owner. We found an ad for Max in our local paper and wondered why any one would want to get rid of their Newfie. It was love at first sight for Max. As soon as we saw him he immediately took to my husband and never left his side once. We hated to leave him, but we had to discuss if we could take him since we already had a 6 year old Newfie female at home. Could the household take two Newfies ? We decided to take the plunge. We just couldn't leave him there. As soon as we got there he ran up to us and sat right next to my husband. Apparently Max considered it a done deal also! That was last June and Max has been a great addition to the family. Max craves pat on the head and he's your friend for life! He also LOVES bread. He rarely ever barks and even though he is close to 200 pounds he thinks he is a lap dog! Max is Damien and Cocoa's father.
