Mo & Maya's Mommy's Puppies

My name is Mo and I am 2 and a half years old. If I could describe myself with one word that would be “lovebug”…It takes a real man to admit this and I am not ashamed – I love to cuddle, I love to snuggle and I love to play armrest when my humans are sitting on the couch. I have moved around a lot (I wish my parents would finally settle down some place so I can start making some forever friends and explore various opportunities to get more involved in the community) – I have lived in 4 cities so far …and for one year I even lived in two cities because my parents were doing the long-distance thing (so glad we’re over this!). And never have I met a single person I didn’t love. I don’t spare kisses especially if there are ear rubs involved…and treats. I love treats – peanut butter treats, salmon treats, chicken treats, cheese treats, even carrots and green beans when my parents decide I need to lose a pound or two. This is why our new place is my favorite so far. I am allowed in stores AAAND they give me treats for coming in. You can’t beat this. Unfortunately, the vet just VEToed (pun intended) treats because he says I am getting on the chunky side (I tell them it’s all my opulent fur but no one listens)…soooo it’s back to carrots and green beans. My other favorite thing is playing tug-of-war. I hate to brag but I am pretty awesome at it. I have perfected my growling sounds and I sound ferocious…that is until someone rubs me under the chin or behind the ears, then I start purring (but not like a cat). I like playing tug with my sister, Maya. But let’s face it she has a long ways to go…aaand she’s a girl and we all know girls just can’t tug like guys. But I appreciate her effort. I don’t appreciate, however, when she tries to eat my food. The sneaky thing comes inbetween my paws and just steals my salmon-flavored kibble. I mean who does that! I have been vocal about my dissatisfaction with this situation but the humans find it cute and funny. They don’t think it’s very funny when I steal their food (which is pretty funny to me….so I guess I get where Maya’s coming from). There is one more thing about me that I think you should know – I am a barker. There. I said it. I bark when I am having fun – like when I play with other dogs. What is a dog to do to show his excitement…meow? They say I’m the only barking cavalier. I see my parents get a little embarrassed when people say this but they will get over it, because I am soooo cute and they just can’t be upset at me for long. You can send me a message if you want to know more about me – I will share more information in exchange for treats and/or ear rubs…or more socks (my dad has started keeping track of his so I am having a hard time sneaking them out unnoticed and the little dog doesn’t help…I need to show her the ropes one of these days, it will make both of our lives easier).

Little Maya started her life on October 10 2011 in an Amish Puppy Mill in Illinois. As puppy mills do they tried to sell her to a pet store but were rejected because she was "too old". Thankfully some good people rescued this little angel and this is how she came into our lives. She is oooooh so cute(!)and such a tremendous joy to be around. In a matter of hours she learned to give kisses and not to spare any. Maya loves to snuggle with her people (think on their chest or literally in their lap). She also loves to play pranks to her big brother Mo which consist mainly of stealing his greenies and socks (which he had previously stolen from his dad...what goes around comes around) aaaand most sneaky of all she sneaks inbetween his legs while he eats and manages to eat kibble for grown-ups. Did I mention Maya is absolutely fearless? She doesn't just come down stairs/furniture. She spreads her paws like a flying squirrel and leaps off. She then lands almost like a cat (but do not tell her I said so) and goes on with her day like it was no big deal...And it wouldn't be if she weren't 4lbs. Maya doesn't just love attention. She demands it. When we walk and someone doesn't stop to say hi she just stops sits and waits patiently for the passerby to correct their mistake by rubbing her behind the ears and saying what she already knows - "You are as cute as a button!". Talking about walks...On a rainy cold day you can't get her to move an inch outside. Otherwise she would walk pretty on a leash trying to walk as close as possible to her brother. Sometimes she would playfully run into him hoping to initiate a play. Maya is very considerate and polite with other dogs and gently stands on her tiptoes to sniff their noses. When I see her do this I can't help but think "You are as cute as a button!"
