Maximus

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Maximus was the love of our life. We adopted him in 2000 from our local humane society. The owners had turned him in because he was "too large". As I always say - WHAT DID THEY EXPECT FROM A GERMAN SHEPHERD!!! duh, some just don't get it. We lost him in 2007 to a very aggressive form of cancer that spreads through the spleen and liver. We were devastated! Since then we have adopted 2 GSD's from our local rescue group. Having 2 new dogs at one time has been a challenge, but we were so lonely for Max, and both of them needed homes badly, so...........as all dog lovers know - what's one more. Both have a few issues, but are adjusting nicely, and we have developed a complete bond with them, they are my "furkids" and have a forever home with us. I don't know what we would do without the wonderful people involved in rescue organizations - they have saved so many dogs. I will have Shepherds forever and always in memory of Maximus - he was a very very special dog and we miss him dearly.....

Hugo

Hugo

We lost Maximus in April 2007 and adopted Hugo from the local GSD rescue a few weeks later (we also adopted a female GSD at the same time). He is a gem - loves tennis balls, fixates on them and will not look away. He's loving, and gentle, but much the wild boy when he wants to be. Has a terrible case of Thunderphobia, fear is not the word. I have no idea what happened in his early life that would cause such an effect. He makes me smile whenever he looks at me. Love him to death. He's 85 lbs and pure muscle, but is just a gentle bear.

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie is also a "Rescue" Shepherd; we adopted her the same day we adopted Hugo. We were only going to adopt a male shepherd; but poor Sadie - she had been raised from a pup by a family and at 4-1/2 years old they were getting divorced and could no longer keep her. She loved Hugo, so needless to say - she came home with us too. She is the dominant GSD; always in charge. If they are outside and Hugo is napping she stays alert and on guard; she'll nap only if she thinks he's awake and ok. She is very very protective, but will give you abundant kisses just by saying kiss - she is a lover. Hugo has extreme thunderphobia so Sadie always tries to look after him. When he is in his "safe" crate during a storm, she lays right beside him until we let him out. Then she makes sure she kisses him to tell him all is ok. She can catch like an outfielder - all you have to do is tell her to wait - walk back a good distance - and throw the tennis ball - she can catch it in mid air while running. She is a very very sweet dog. I don't have any recent pictures - she licks the camera every time I try to take a close - up so all I can use it my avatar. She is a wonderful dog - I'd never give her up!
