Adler vom Schloss Felsen (Morgen) is an AKC registered German Shepherd dog, who is destined for greatness. Many, many hours of trials and tribulations await young Morgen, as we will make our first attempt at the FEMA/Dept of Homeland Security Canine Search Specialist Type II test, in late summer of 2009. This is the first certification level that FEMA/DHS recognize and require for disaster dogs. Should all go to plan (and no one beats us to it!!!), Morgen and I will be the first certified USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) canine team on the Western Slope of Colorado!!!! Our ultimate goal is to be a FEMA/DHS Canine Search Specialist Type I, the highest level of certification for disaster dogs. We also hope to obtain a position with Colorado Task Force-1, the FEMA/DHS certified Urban Search and Rescue Team, based out of Lakewood, CO. My labor of love began more than two years ago, as I began my quest for another dog. After much thinking, research, and asking a lot of questions, I decided I wanted a German Shepherd Dog as my search and rescue partner. Many, many more hours were done contacting breeders and asking more questions, before I decided on Schloss Felsen Kennels. Schloss Felsen is a small imported German Shepherd only breeder in western Nebraska. They have about 14 dogs that live on a small farm. Please take a minute to check out their website. I spent many, many hours doing research and talking to people who have or have had their dogs. Of all the breeders I looked at, Schloss Felsen got the greatest reviews from owners of their dogs. I truly feel they are the epitome of a quality breeder, which cares very much not for the product they are producing; but for the dogs they are raising. Please check out their website at: Morgen gets his name from Sarah. One of her favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany's. In the movie, Audrey Hepburn has a cat named, 'Tomorrow.' Sarah has always thought the name was neat because Audrey petted the kitty and would say, 'Everything will be alright, Tomorrow.' Not really keen on naming a dog tomorrow, she suggested the German alternative- Morgen. It has stuck. Morgen is full of energy, inquisitive, and a true lover when he wants to be. He loves chasing tennis balls, tugging on a rope bone, or chewing on my favorite pair of shoes (hey, a puppy has to keep busy doesn't he?).

After seeing a PBGV dog (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen) on a dog show I fell in love with this breed. They have tons of energy and loads of charisma. My husband said we couldn't get another dog until after our wedding, so 3 days after we got back from our honeymoon, I was on the computer looking for my PBGV. They are a rare breed, but I found Lily through in Denver only 2 hours away. I rushed to see her and fell in love instantly. She was from a home where she wasn't well-cared for and was stinky, matted, and had fleas. After a complete shave at the groomer (poor puppy!), she finally has grown back her hair and is cute as a button! Lily loves playing with her stuffed squirrel, playing soccer with a tennis ball, and throwing toys over her shoulder so she can go chase after them.
