Jake was born October 10, 2008, to breeders up in Minnesota. His official breed name is Alaskan Klee Kai, which originated in the early 70s. The term "Klee Kai" was derived from Alaskan Athabaskan words meaning "small dog". The breed was developed to create a companion sized version of the Alaskan Husky (although it more closely resembles the Siberian Husky), resulting in an energetic, intelligent, apartment-sized dog with an appearance that reflects its northern heritage. He is now full-grown at 15 pounds and still thinks he can take on any big dog in sight, including Irish Wolfhounds. He's a little smartie pants and has his owners trained pretty well. He loves loud noises, except for barking. Weird, huh? And even though he's mischievous, he won't pass up an opportunity to cuddle up next to mommy or daddy for a long nap. We can't imagine our lives without him :)
