We found Roadie as a stray and we immediantely fell in love with him. My best friend first thought we should call him Wool because of his long dangly fur! He loves every dog he see's and does not have problems with cats. He loves going to the park and going on the walk. We have to groom/brush him daily otherwise he would look like a monster! We love him to death and since he was my first dog i ever had we love him even more! We are lucky to have found him at the age of 8weeks old because the vet said another day and he would have died. Please comment on him and add me as a friend! p.s if you comment on him and you want me to comment back on your dog i will sooooo i think it is worth it! :)View Profile

We first met Otto in December 2008, when he was eight months old. He had grown up with a family who loved him, and he was a friendly, insecure little guy. The family had been told that Otto had some degree of hip dysplasia, though, and they were afraid that he would be in pain as he got older. They knew that surgery is available to correct that condition, but the expense and rehabilitation were more than they could handle. They were afraid they would have to have Otto euthanized if RSPCA could not take him, so they were very relieved when they said that they could. Once Otto was completely recovered from the elbow surgery, we had another consultation at Tufts about the hip dysplasia. The orthopedic surgeon advised us to try a conservative course of treatment, giving Otto the supplement Cosequin DS, and giving Rimadyl for pain, if needed. Weââ¬â¢ve been doing that, along with keeping his weight on the low side and not overdoing his exercise; and heââ¬â¢s a happy, active, full-of-himself young German Shepherd who is looking for his forever home. As Otto was gradually allowed to be more active, he showed us that he has a sense of humor and gets a twinkle in his light-colored eyes just before he takes off at a run. He must have enjoyed playing ââ¬ÅTag, youââ¬â¢re it!ââ¬Â in his previous home, and his foster Mom worked on his ââ¬Åcome-when-youââ¬â¢re-calledââ¬Â skills. Fortunately, heââ¬â¢s very food-motivated, and food rewards help him focus during training exercises. Heââ¬â¢s learned that itââ¬â¢s good to bring the ball back and toss it at his foster Mom so she can throw it again. There were other dogs in the foster home, and Otto would bark threateningly at them at first. It took him a while to accept the fact that he wasnââ¬â¢t the only dog in the home, and he gradually became more comfortable and is now able to be out in the fenced yard with one of the other dogs. His idea of playing, though, is to grab the dogââ¬â¢s ear or tail or nip the flank and then run like the dickens, hoping for a good chase game. He will do well with a dog that will ignore his barking so he doesnââ¬â¢t feel threatened. Otto will need a confident leader who can be in control when meeting other people or dogs, because Otto does not always have the confidence to face new situations in a relaxed manner. He will do best with someone who can read his body language and give him immediate feedback on how to behave. In the right environment, Otto will gain experience and confidence and learn to watch you, his pack leader, for instructions before he reacts. On the end we decided to adopt otto at the age of 18months. We have had him for half a year and we really love him. please comment on him and my other dogs. p.s if you comment on him and you would like me to comment on your dog i will soo i think it is worth it!View Profile
