My husband and I got Buddy while I was pregnant with our daughter. We wanted her to have a puppy to grow up with. We didn't anticipate how different a 7 year old girl and a 8 year old dog would be. Our silly girl full of energy now has a grumpy middle aged dog. They are both still my babies and I get choked just thinking about how short my time is with my best Buddy.
