Profile: UPDATE: I'm sorry to report that on May 3, 2010, just 2 days shy of her 15yr 1 mo birthday Dixie left our care and entered into Heaven. She was met by Our Lord Jesus and her sister Daisy along with other friends. Rest assured she lived a very full and happy puppy life. Even after her accident which left her unable to use her back legs, she still had a rich life of scooting around chasing cats and bigger dogs out of her yard. She sitll demanded her "cookies" at night and because of her age slept quite nicely in her many blankets. She rests at peace now in our back yard among the irises. A local bunny keeps her company as he munches among the tender grass. Dixie is truely missed in our family. Thank ya'll for your tender thoughts and many wishes over the last couple of years. We appreciate you. Dixie is now 14yrs old and still as active as a handicapped dachshund can be. She chases (shh) c.a.t.s. and gives the best neck sugar any puppy has ever given. She has always thought of herself as a "big" dog. Riding in the back of our pickup truck or sitting in the drivers seat. Her small size has never been an issue. Her heart is as big as her birth state of Texas. She still has plenty of spunk. Her favorite toys have been a green froggie and the toilet brush that doubles as a tooth brush. Oh and lets not forget her blankies, which she has to lay on or under all year around.
