Profile: My fiance and I have just adopted a mystery mix puppy (listed at the rescue as Newfoundland/Lab, but... seriously?) we've named Beorn. He may be the best puppy ever. Slightly biased.

Beorn is named after a character in The Hobbit who can turn into a bear, since when we adopted him, he resembled a fuzzy little bear cub! The rescue where we adopted him had him listed as a Newfoundland/Lab mix, but we're not convinced that's what he is. His coloring looks a bit like a Leonberger - but I'm mainly posting because I'd love any thoughts on what he might be! He's not nearly the size of a Leonberger, he's definitely a mix of something. He's very sweet, active (chew, play, chew, play!), follows us around the house, and learns very fast (so, so smart). He adores people, water, and other dogs - but especially people. If he's out of sight of a person, you can bet he'll be coming around the corner momentarily to find you and be involved in whatever you're doing. Guesses? If it helps, the other three puppies in his litter look just like black Newfoundland puppies. He's about 3 1/2 months old now (again, guessing, as the rescue had him after he'd passed through a few different shelters), and 20 lbs. Our guess is definitely some kind of working dog given how quickly he learns and how active he wants to be, but beyond that... not sure!View Profile
