Profile: My current dog: Nicky: Sheltie/Australian Shepherd cross. Male, born 1999, and still healthy and active. Magnificent tail with long long hair! Got as a re-homed dog, age 7, from my mom, who could no longer look after him. Soft and cuddly. Likes car rides, during which he licks the windows. Previous dogs: 1. Sara: Female Border Collie/St. Bernard cross. Looked like a muscular Black Lab. Sweet temperament. Got as a re-homed dog at age 5 from a loving home that had developed dog allergies. Loved swimming in the river and going after balls in the lake. Ashes scattered in the lake she loved so much. 1999-2009 RIP. 2. Twyla: Beautiful female Rottie/Beagle cross, maybe with a touch of German Shepherd. Loved everybody! Wagged her tail like crazy when people came to the house. Performed a "shoe relocation" to most visitors -- she would just steal a shoe and put it somewhere else, never chewed it! 2000-2004, RIP. 3. Cherokee: Female Great Dane puppy, black. My gift to my son for his 6th birthday. Loved to jump onto the dining room table (with all four paws) and lick the chandelier! Had a previously undiscovered congenital heart defect, but fun and active until her very last minutes. 2000-2001, RIP.

Princess came to my home at the age of six. Her previous family made the difficult decision to re-home their dogs when they had to move. Princess has a very gentle disposition. She displayed this calmness hundreds of times when she had to receive eye-drops. She hated those drops, would run from us when it was time for them, but never ever snapped at us. Her ordeal was finally over when she had successful surgery for ectopic cilia (ingrown eyelash). As calm as she is, she also has many moments of exuberance. She just doesn't understand how strong she is. She needs more leash-training before she will be a joy to take on walks! But they say it's never too late to learn!View Profile
