Profile: My name is Liz and I run a small no kill odg rescue shelter in Alabama. I have one dog myself her name is Faith. I had another dog named Sam but he sadly passed away 2 years ago. We have about 50-60 dogs come in every other week and if they don't find homes right away or are small pups or needs socialization we place them in foster homes until they are adoptable. I AM ONLY PUTTING THE DOGS THAT HAVE BEEN HERE A WHILE AND REALLY NEED HOMES AND DOGS THAT HAVE A HIGHER CHANCE OF BEING ADOPTED WITH MORE VIEWS OF THEM ON HERE. We run off of donations and are very appreciative of them. I believe all dogs deserve a chance, no matter what the breed or case the dog is in. We take dogs in that show up at the door step, or people surrender. There is not one dog out there that we will say "NO!" to. Hope you like the dogs and sorry the pictures are scratchy and blurry, we have problems with our camera's. If you would like to contact me about adopting a dog, Send me a quick message will your email and i will be happy to send a adoption application to your email. Thanks again!

Delilah-ADOPTED!

Delilah-ADOPTED!

Delilah is about 2 years old. She is a beautiful calm little Aussie mix found wandering the streets June of 09. She's been through a lot in her short life... She literally came to the shelter in pieces, she had been attacked by 3 other dogs that were also strays. She has stolen the hearts of all the volunteers here, she is just a sweetheart. Delilah is all white with light gold freckles on her back and some on her face. She would do best in a home with no dogs, but she is good with cats. She loves kids and will let them do anything to her (pull ears, pull tail, sit on her, brush her, play with her, ect) She has never nipped or growled when chewing a bone eating a treat or food. She would love to come home with you! ~UPDATE 8/23/10 (MONDAY) Delilah went to her new home yesterday with a family with 2 kids ready to play with her! It makes me so happy to see kids get excited about adopting a dog from us(: She's living on a farm now and I got a call this morning that she's loving her new life with them. So far she's explored the chicken shed, the horse barn and even gone on a ride in the new blue tractor! She's going to be her new daddy's best farmin' buddy!~

Chance

Chance

~CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE~ Chance was on death row at another shelter and we pulled him out because he had such a great temperament and a high chance of being adopted. He's been here about 2 weeks and still looking for his forever home! He loves to play, and needs a fenced yard to run around in. He's great with dogs and kids any age. But NO cats with this big guy! He's about 5-6 yrs old, and acts like he's a 2 month old puppy when he's playing. He knows how to be calm in the house and lays right at your feet and falls asleep. Chance is a great guy! Common! Give Chance a Home!

Eden-ADOPTED!

Eden-ADOPTED!

Eden is 1 1/2 yr old beagle that was surrendered to us a little over 2 months ago. He is a loving, energetic guy who needs training and lots of patience. His owner came in very mad and yelling at us that if we didn't take the dog right then he would go right outside our shelter window and shoot him. We took him right away, no questions asked. Eden barks a lot, and LOVES to run around and sniff things, just like a normal beagle. He needs a home with a person who has plenty of time for him. People think when getting a beagle that it's a small dog that's easy to take care of. WRONG!!! They are wound up little dogs with TONS of energy always wanting to chase things. Eden needs to be an only pet in the house, and is more fond of woman then of men but would do fine with either one or both. Come on down and take a look at Eden! ~UPDATE 8/24/10 (TUESDAY) Eden went to his new home today with a great family that loves beagles! Their old dog died 5 months ago and they were ready for that new companion. We were sad to see him go, but we know he's going to have a great new home where he can have a normal happy rest of his life!~

Honey

Honey

~CURRENTLY AT SHELTER~ Honey is 3 year old lab mix that someone tied to the door to the shelter with her brother Hunter. She loves walks and runs. But she is a shy girl that's afraid of any loud noises and thinks she's a lap dog! Honey would do best in a home with older kids who can walk her and play gently with her. She's fine with other dogs and cats. Honey really needs a special home that will care to her needs and be understanding of them. She would do best if someone would be able to adopt her and her brother together.

Hunter

Hunter

~CURRENTLY AT SHELTER~ Hunter is Honey's brother and also a complete opposite! He's a 3 yr old lab mix... He loves to run around like a maniac and PLAY PLAY PLAY!!! He loves his sister Honey and it would be best if they could be adopted together. He would make an excellent hunter (hence the name!) He loves swimming and is great retriever. Is best with older kids that won't get knocked down by this excitable boy and he's gentle with cats and also enjoy's playing with other dogs. Please adopt this brother and sister in need of a home!!!

Oliver

Oliver

~CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE~ Oliver is 8 months old. LOVES and i mean LOVES to play tug and run run run! He's a medium sized dog that we think is done growing, now that his paws patch his body size! Oliver could use come obedience training but is eager to please. Maybe someday in the future could become a hunting dog for someone that would adopt him. He's a sweet teddy bear when he's calm and will snuggle up right with you and fall asleep (it's really the cutest thing EVER!) He's done good with the young kids in his foster home who love playing with him! Not so good with cats but other dogs are fine with him.

Sammy

Sammy

~CURRENTLY IN FOSTER CARE~ Sammy is going to be a BIG dog and will need space to grow. She's 5 months old and has been at the shelter for 2 months. She was a surrender. Her owner knew she wasn't going to have the space or time for the big dog she discovered was about to explode from that cute little fur-ball. She did the responsible thing and brought her to us. Sammy's good with kids, dogs, and cats. She has done good in his foster home with training and is polite dog just waiting for her home!

Ellie

Ellie

~CURRENTLY AT SHELTER~ Ellie was at the shelter for 5 months and then went into foster care. She and Delilah are so much alike. She has a very soft and sweet personality but knows how to play. She is a very well mannered little dog ready to go to her forever home. This little sweetie was returned to th shelter 3 times because she didn't "know how to retrieve" i hate how everyone thinks all bird dogs can be a hunting dog, especially if they've come from a shelter. Ellie lived her whole life here, of course she doesn't know how to hunt. (i'm sorry if i sound crabby, it just drives me insane!) If she had the proper training and was given a few years then yes she might do well as a hunting companion. But you can't just expect a dog fresh out of her life out of the shelter to know everything about hunting. I love her and would take her home if i had the time for another dog. But i really don't have any time for a additional dog since i'm constantly here at the shelter. Ellie loves other dogs, she's alright with cats, but i don't completely trust her. And She's very gentle with kids.

Faith

Faith

Faith showed up at our door step Winter of 07. This was before I had opened the rescue. She was shivering and wet and a mess of cold. I was so irritated that someone would leave a little puppy in the freezing cold like this. We put out flyers and put it in the paper that we had found a springer puppy. But no one came forward to claim her. About a week later "pup" (what we were calling her at the time) kept coughing and sneezing, our puppy had a puppy cold, but it was worse than that. Her eyes were all red and she was loosing weight. I was worried that our dog Sam was going to get it, too but he didn't. We took "Pup" to the vet and she said that she might not make it. My daughter kept saying "Mommy, Daddy. We just have to have Faith that she will make it." And a week later "Pup" now had a name; Faith. She had made it through all the treatments and was now a healthy dog. Today Faith is a beautiful 5 year old springer that loves to hunt! And we love her to death. Here's Faith!: Hi my name is faith i Love to run around the many miles of my country farm home. My best friend was Sammy, but he passed away i think like 2 years ago. I miss him lots :( But i also have other best buds Like Noony who is my neighbor dog...He's a springer spaniel mom takes lots of pictures of me and him! He's like my brother now he comes over and stays when his mommy and daddy leave on trips for work. We also go hunting together. Levi is my other friend and the same kind I am which is a welsh springer spaniel. Levi lives up the road some but sometimes me and Noony will run up there and play for awhile with him. Or sometimes he comes down and his daddy will take us all to the pond to cool off. I have a favorite Stuffed toy name Stripes even though he mostly has dots all over him. I've had him ever since Shyla my human sister gave it to me when I was sick as a puppy. Well i really don't like to sit around and talk a whole lot So i'm gunna go play with Noony and Levi! Woof Woof Bye! ;)

Sam

Sam

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Sam was the best dog I've ever had and i'm sure i'll ever have. I know a lot of dog owners say this... But really he was. Friends, family, neighbors, people on the street would ask me "What kind of dog is that? He's one of the best dogs I've ever seen." Sam was just...Special. It wasn't that he always listened and was very obedient, he was but not all the time. There was just something about the mellow dog that he was and the way he always looked at you. No matter what kind of day you had just had, or how sad or even mad you were, Sam always made you feel better. My whole family just misses him like crazy but not like I do. Faith is similar to him in many ways, but you know once you have that first dog another just won't ever completely be able to cover up and replace him or her. When we found out that Sam had a tumor, I kept thinking I don't know what I'll do without that dog. We will always Love you, Sammy boy. R.I.P ~Sam 3/19/1999-7/10/2008 - Love Your Family - Liz, Keegan, Shyla, And Faith.

Gemma

Gemma

Gemma (Gem) is a young dog that showed up at one of my fosterer's door step one very early morning. She called me right away and said she found this young mixed breed dog I told her to bring her over to the shelter and she said that the dog was pregnant and wouldn't move from the crate she set up for her. She knew right away that she wanted to keep her after she had her puppies. *UPDATE OF TODAY* Gem had her puppies 2 months ago and is doing well in her new home where she was fostered. All the puppies found good homes with loving families I'm so happy. Here are some pictures of Gem and the pups. Hope you enjoy!
