Ruby

Ruby

This is a two and a half year old brown and tan spayed bitch with a tail. Although Ruby has lived with another Dobermann and children, she was very anxious and insecure in this environment. She is a generally nervous dog and may take a little while to settle into a new home. Ruby requires a calm environment in an experienced Dobermann home where she is an only dog and there are no children living at the house. Ruby would be best suited to a household where there is somebody at home most of the time. She is good on the lead and doesn't pull, but she doesn't yet recall when off the lead. She is being cared for in our kennels in South Wales. For further details please call Sue James, on 07789 071738 during kennel opening hours - Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

Jed

Jed

Update: Evelyn visited Jed on 14 March and met a lovely, friendly dog who is very well behaved and responds happily to basic commands. His little stump never stopped wagging during her visit. Jed is a medium sized dobie looking for a home where he will be well loved and exercised. Sadly up for rehoming because of his owner's deteriorating health problems which do not allow her to walk Jed. He is black and tan, approximately 4 years old, docked and castrated, micro-chipped with vaccinations up-to-date. Jed is leading rather an isolated life because of his owner's restricted circumstances. He is a much loved dog who is very affectionate and enjoys playing especially with squeaky toys. Jed travels well in the car, is not destructive and likes being groomed. It is difficult to judge how Jed is with other dogs because of his current lack of regular socialisation. His owners think he would probably live with a spayed bitch and be fine with children aged 11 years and up. As his exercise is irregular he does pull on the lead, and is walked on a halti however where it is quiet he goes off lead and has good recall. Jed is currently a little porky, like many dogs will bark at cats and does worry indoors if the floors are slippy. Dislikes having his nails clipped and being in a confined or narrow area and does not like stairs. Obviously something relating to his past life as his current family adopted him from SSPCA kennels about 2 years ago. This dog will make a lovely companion and recent events lead us to believe he would live with a friendly spayed bitch. Please call Evelyn if you can offer Jed his forever home on (01294) 272184 (01294) 272184 - remember Evelyn cannot return calls to mobiles so please provide a landline number if leaving a message.

Brooke

Brooke

Approximately 2 years old, this brown and tan bitch has a docked tail and we understand that she originally came in from Ireland as a stray. Brooke has been subjected to cruel treatment in her life which has made her very nervous. In need of a calm environment in an experienced Dobermann home, Brooke should be the only dog in the house with no children. The reason for this is that we do not know her history - she would be better in a home where there is somebody at home most of the time because Brooke is going to need a lot of time and patience to help her get over her anxieties. She is being cared for in our kennels in South Wales. For further details please call Sue James, on 07789 071738 07789 071738 during kennel opening hours - Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.

Heidi

Heidi

Good looking, black and tan, neat and friendly bitch thought to be 3-4 years of age with a docked tail. Heidi will need to be spayed. Being rehomed through no fault of her own. Heidi is very clean, reasonable on a lead, extremely friendly bitch who has been well cared and has settled well in kennels. Heidi has lived with a GSD bitch and small children she can go to a family with children aged 11 years and up. Heidi has loads of character and gives you a lovely smile as a greeting. More details from Evelyn Sengendo (01294) 272184 (01294) 272184. Land line numbers only please. Heidi can be seen in Ayrshire.

Boston

Boston

Boston was surrendered to the DWA weighing a mere 23 kilos. He has undergone various health checks and does have a heart murmur. Despite this condition he shows no outward sign of illness, his coat is shiny, and he is gaining condition slowly. Full of energy and fun he is a very affectionate, happy dog. Boston is a black and tan entire male with a tail, aged 2 years and deserves a special home. Currently being fed little and often to try and get some more weight on him which is difficult as he is so energetic. House trained, friendly and easy going Boston is currently in a lovely foster home with children, other dogs and cats and is good with livestock. He travels well in the car and loves to play especially with balls. If you can offer Boston that special home please call Evelyn Sengendo on (01294) 272184 (01294) 272184 or Sue Garner on (01895) 253578 (01895) 253578.

Ramsey

Ramsey

This black and tan castrated male is approximately 6 years old and has up to date vaccinations. Sadly Ramsey needs to be rehomed as his family is moving abroad. He's a friendly dog who, although strong on the lead, is well behaved off lead - but he cannot be allowed loose around farm livestock.Ramsey enjoys being given a warm bath, playing with his toys, especially chasing a ball, and travels well in the car. He can be left for reasonable periods without problems, is living with teenage children and has lived with a cat in his previous home.At the moment Ramsey has a Kerry Blue as a companion and can be seen in the Vale of Glamorgan. He is awaiting DWA assessment and will not be up for rehoming until the end of April. To register your interest or for more information, please call Sue Garner on (01895) 253578

Stanley & Mia

Stanley & Mia

We (the DWA) are looking for one home for both Stanley and Mia because they have always lived together, and although they are not related, they are like brother and sister. Stanley is a 4 year old black and tan male with a docked tail and Mia is a brown and tan spayed bitch with docked tail who will be 4 years old in July. Both dogs are outgoing and have a friendly, laid back nature. They are OK with other dogs and love to play. They have a good recall when off the leadStanley and Mia have not lived with children, but would be suitable in a family home with teenagers. Neither dog is used to cats and will chase them. Stanley and Mia are being cared for in our kennels in South Wales. For further details please call Sue James, on 07789 071738 07789 071738 during kennel opening hours - Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm. Up-date: Home check being carried out for this fun pair week commencing 29 March so hopefully will be reporting that Stanley and Mia are happily rehomed.

Blue

Blue

Black and tan bitch, unspayed d.o.b. 16th August 2008. Blue is a sweet natured, friendly dog and her vaccinations are up to date. Blue is being rehomed due to a change of domestic circumstances and through no fault of her own. Blue needs to live in a rural location, she is not a town girl and is nervous of traffic in built up areas. For the past 10 months Blue has lived happily with an older, steady male dobermann. Most of Blue's exercise has been off lead, she has good recall, and does need more lead training. She has not lived with children or cats, travels well in the car and can be seen in Dumfries. Needs a home that can offer company and lots of love. Call Evelyn Sengendo on (01294) 272184 (01294) 272184. If leaving a message please give land line number or call back.Up-date: Blue meets her new owners on 13 April and will hopefully be moving to the north coast of Scotland to her forever home.

Black and tan dobie bitch with a tail was born on 14 February, Valentine's Day, 2009. Her vaccinations are up to date and she is both microchipped and spayed. Jinty is a sweet-natured bitch who loves her toys, travels well in the car and has her Bronze Good Citizens K.C. Award. Sadly up for rehoming due to owner's health problems, Jinty has not lived with children, tolerates cats and lives with a 7 year old, male collie cross. Merlin-Rehomed

Merlin-Rehomed

Update: Merlin has settled in really well with his new family. Initially a few teething problems accepting the horses which he obviously thought were fire breathing, people eating, monsters! Black and tan, castrated, micro-chipped and docked male dobermann aged 4 years and 5 months old (as of February 2010). Merlin was handed into a dog pound in Cumbria apparently no longer wanted by one of many owners. He is a delightful friendly dog who welcomes everyone, ignores cats, doesn't bother other dogs and has good recall.Desperate for company, Merlin does not like being left on his own.

Etta-Rehomed

Etta-Rehomed

Update: Etta is in her new home and settling in well. Seven year old, black and tan, spayed bitch with a docked tail. Etta's vaccinations are up to date. She is a quiet, nice natured dog who lives with a 10 month old child. She is not used to cats. She travels well in the car and is used to being left alone. She is good with other dogs off the lead but whilst on the lead will bark at them if they bark at her. She is used to staying with a relative who has a Jack Russell bitch. Etta has an under-active thyroid and is currently on Soloxine medication. Her current owners have had her for 4 years. Hopefully Etta now has her forever home where she will receive the care, company and love that she deserves in her twilight years.

Chester

Chester

This 6 year old (date of birth - 24 March 2004) is neutered, micro-chipped and has up to date vaccinations. Chester needs an owner experienced with male dobermanns, he is not for the first time owner. Nor can he be rehomed with children or cats. Abandoned and ill-treated in his formative years, Chester is wary of strangers, especially teenagers. However, once he knows and trusts people Chester can be a loving dobe.Chester has lived with other dogs and is currently with a Jack Russell, so he could be rehomed with a spayed bitch. Chester is strong on the lead, and has good recall off lead. Loves to play especially with squeaky toys and can be left in home without being destructive. Travels well in the car More information regarding Chester and the reason for reluctant rehoming can be obtained directly from his owner Mr D Woods on (01706) 600191 (01706) 600191 evenings and weekends, or on his Mobile 07595 337750 07595 337750. Chester can be seen near Burnley,

Now living happily with a loving family who are given support with Ben and Jess's veterinary expenses by the DWA. The DWA is able to help dogs like this extraordinary mother and son couple through both sponsorship and membership. Look at the 'before and after' pictures of these two dogs below and see the difference it has made to their lives. Please keep your support coming in it is so much appreciated and vital to our work. Other dobies who need your help are Tara, Bailey and now young Boston, who you can read about on our - Long Term Dogs - page.
