Albert and his littermates were born poor. The hailed from rural West Virginia where their mother used to be the favored pet at the local fire station. She raised them in a boot closet in the back of the abandoned station which was closed due to a lack of town revenue. It's said that her puppies can smell a fire in a hurricane at 2 miles and Albert had already saved a young child from a fire by the time he was 10 weeks old. The mother of that child adopted Albert's mother out of sheer gratitude and brought Albert and his siblings into rescue when they were 12 weeks old. The rescue transferred them a few miles away to a small town in Maryland. He then adopted me because he knew my life revolves around snow, not fire and he thought we would be well balanced . His pack now includes his new giant nanny, a blue eyed Saint Bernard who never lets him out of her sight, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has become his girlfriend and erstwhile tackling dummy, and a lab/chow/beagle who is the pack's master hunter and overall voice of dog reason and wisdom. Albert is being trained to patrol the Maryland Watershed for forest fires while running trails with his person. We all think that Albert has a very bright future.View Profile
