Gavrosh

My dog, Gavroche, is probably my most favorite and beloved pet out of all animals I owned. He is four years old now and was born right after my birthday (January 16) January 17. He knows over ten tricks (sit, give paw, roll over, spin, play dead, say sorry, 1+1 {he barks two times}, find the toy, jump, stay, kiss me, fetch, lay down, etc. ) and obeys everyone in my family. He's the kind of dog that loves running in open spaces and hugging and kissing the people he loves. Gavroche is a French name and he was named after a boy that was in the French Revolution, fighting with the soldiers and shooting the enemies with a gun. He died of course, but the brave thing was that he gave his life for France. Just as we thought would happen, our dog almost gave our life for us. On the day before New Year, December 31, it was about 9:00 PM. Guests were coming for the New Year Party, and my mom was in the kitchen cooking. But one guest had to stay for two nights and it brought two dogs, one male pit-bull mix, and a female mix. The female was gentler than the other dog, that was hyper and crazy. We left them outside in our backyard, and our dog inside. Of course, my dog was curious about those dogs, and stared at them through the door window. Without my grandpa knowing about the dogs, he thought Gavroche just wanted to go out for a walk, so he opened the door and the fight started. The pit bull bit off my dog's lip and gave Gavroche an infection on his long nose, and broke one of his ribs. My dog bit on the edges of the pit bull's ears, and scratched it's forehead. My mom came into the scene, started shouting Gavroche's name, and I got frightened and ran outside, and seeing my dog on the floor lying down, the pitbull growling and my dog barley breathing, I started screaming and crying, and pushed away the pit bull, and brought my dog inside. The guests were curious, and were laughing at my screams, but I was too worried to say anything. Later, my mom and my sister and some other people were washing all the sweat off Gavroche, and I wasn't any help at all, crying in my room and I didn't want to see Gavroche's infections. This whole scene spoiled the New Year and I was with my dog most of the time. A few days later we visited the vet and had to pay $200 for the medicine and we had to leave Gavroche in the hospital overnight, but we made it a few hours because I was too worried. Ever since that day I became more worried and scared and my dog was more protective, he even barks at little kids we see when I walk him. On the other hand, now, my dog is a real Gavroche.
