Edward Clarence Dewberry

Edward Clarence Dewberry

I adopted Edward because he was a "special" little man. When he was little he injured his foot and a week after I adopted him I had his back leg amputated. Having three legs hasn't stopped him from being a happy crazy puppy. His favorite toys are cardboard boxes, ice cubes and SHOES!!! When he is not trying to play with his greyhound buddies (he thinks he is a greyhound) he loves napping under the my bed or by his window. He knows how to sit and lie down for yummy treats. He is such a little gentleman and loves to schmooze the ladies when he goes out. He also loves to spin circles, blow bubbles in his water bowl, and traveling (he just got back from Canada). One of his favorite activities is to go swimming in his creek where he fetches sticks and then puts them all in a nice little pile. He is my little shadow, my little foot warmer and I am so honored to have him. Edward is a wonderful "tri-paw" and he wants to let everyone know that your puppy doesn't have to be perfect to be great.

Elton

Elton

I adopted Elton (and his brother Peanut) at 3 weeks old when a breeder contacted me about some puppies who he thought were not going to make it. Elton did make it and he is now the big 3. He is such an angel and a giant cuddle monster. We call him our little "emo" man because he is a sensitive little man with big feelings. He loves to just lay outside or sit by the fire at night. He is terrified of thunderstorms. But he has a little corner that is just his with his pillow and blankie where he hides. He has a running feud with the broom and the mop who must have done unspeakable things to him when he was little. He is also the equality patrol and has to make sure everyone has the same food and water in all the dog bowls plus that everyone gets the same amount of treats otherwise he gets upset.

Ellie Bean

Ellie Bean

I adopted Ellie Bean from the same breeder that I got Elton and Peanut. Her and Peanut were best pals and Peanut would make sure she stayed out of trouble, but sadly he passed away a short time after Ellie arrived. Ellie was an utter terror when she was a puppy and had so much pent up energy. She use to get into so much trouble and sometimes I just wanted to scream. But she has calmed down a lot since she hit 18 months. She loves to be outside and say hi to all the neighbors. She loves children and want nothing more than to play tag with them. She loves to take things from the house and sneak them outside and bury them. I have found water bottles, sunglasses, shoes, and oddities of all sorts. At night she curls up under the blankets and cuddles right under your arms. She has been a very trying dog to raise but I wouldn't have her any other way.

Baby

Baby

There is nothing more to say about Baby other than she was an old princess. She was with us for 11 years. Baby was a national and even international traveler (Canada) and went to Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York. Her dream was to see Paris and run away with Johnny Depp. She will be missed so much by Ellie, Elton, and Edward who always looked at her like a mom. It broke my heart to have to watch her suffer with illness and then pass away, but she went out like the true princess she was. Baby 2/1997 - 12/2009

Amiee was a great hound dog. When we first got her she was insanely jumpy. It took us a year to get her to even walk out the front door with her lease on. She ran away twice in the first few months because she broke her lease when she got scared on a walk due to a car engine starting. The first time we got a call from animal control and picked her up at the shelter. The second time she was gone for 3 days and suddenly she reappeared on the back porch. When we let her in she had part of her lease still attached to her collar and she ran upstairs and dove under the covers on the bed. Her nickname was "Stinky" for reasons I probably don't need to explain. She loved to run around her forest and swim in her creek. Sadly, she passed away in June 2004. She was an angel.

I adopted Peanut when he was 3 weeks old (also his brother Elton). He was only 4 pds and was just a bag of bones. He was a very difficult guy having to be rushed to the emergency clinic once and needing to be fed through a syringe for a month. He was such a wonderful man and quite a character. He had a rather prominent under bite and we liked to call him "warthog". He loved taking care of the other dogs and protecting the house from the crazy flesh eating deer beasts. He got sick last April and passed away due to unknown circumstances just before his 2nd birthday. It was so hard to lose him, Elton certainly will never be the same. It has been a year and I still think of him always. The legend of the "Great Peanut-o-saurus" grows and provides laughs everyday.

Zap

Zap-man came to live with us, his "forever home" after he had been to two previous homes. He had some major scarring and we are not sure what happen, but he was such a lover boy. He loved to be petted and would fall asleep standing up if you would scratch his head. At Christmas Zap started limping and we took him into the vet. It turned out Zap man had a very progressive case of bone cancer. He passed away less then a month later. I miss him everyday.

Grizzly Bear

Grizzly Bear

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

Grizzly came to us after having had 2 sets of puppies. She was such a goof and loved to wrestle. When it was bath time she would always disappear. You would finally find her curled up in a ball hiding in the long pampas grass hoping you wouldn't see her. She injured her foot badly and had to have surgery. For the months it took her to recover she was so depressed and lost 15 pounds. My grandma, who is a nurse, came down and stayed with her. When grandma tells you something you do it, grizzly got better in a few weeks thanks to her. When we got Peanut and Elton they use to follow her around the house and cuddle with her at nap-time. She was a sweetheart. She passed away from kidney failure in November of 2005.

LuBee

LuBee

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

LuBee came to us after she had been placed with 2 other families. She had had a litter of puppies. She had separation anxiety and had filed all her teeth down from chewing on her kennel when she was frighten. She was such a quiet, shy and rather placid dog. However, when you asked her if she wanted to go for a walk she would start bouncing up and down doing her little happy jig. She only got in trouble once because she ate a hat. She was a true angel. In the fall of 2004 Lubee was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. She lived a few more happy, painless months but passed away in the early spring of 2005.
