We got Cody after our oldest dog, Bandy, died and we saw an ad in the newspaper. Little did we know when we responded to the ad for free puppies, that we'd be driving to the same house where we got our other "free dog" two years previously. Turns out we ended up with half brothers born two years apart. We're not exactly sure what he is, but he looks like a short black lab. He didn't always have a gray face, that's come with age (he's 10 now -- but he's still going very strong!). His new little sister, Mary, has helped him get more active and even shed a few pounds. He fell in love with her at first sight. He's very mellow, loves to sleep (and eat), and likes to squeak his toys.

I adopted Mary in November of 2008 from BARK, a rescue group in Southern Illinois. She'd been with her foster mom for 8 months and was pretty attached, but she's since become very attached to me. She likes her new big brother, Cody, and has become quite the toy dog. We got into agility last year and haven't looked back. She loves it - especially the weave poles and the dog walk. She also enjoys spending a few days a month with me at work at Camp Bow Wow Swansea where she gets to run and play with all her (boy)friends.

In Loving MemoryIn Loving Memory

We found Sammy through an ad in the newspaper for free puppies. He and his three siblings had been dropped off at a farm house along with mom. The family decided to keep mom and give the puppies away. When we got there, it was just Sammy and one of his sister's left. Sammy came right up to use and wanted to play so we picked him. He was named after Uncle Sam because we got him on the 4th of July. He was an amazing dog. He played well with his brother, Cody, and was always up for a challenge. He could straight jump a 6 foot fence (which led us to give him the middle name of Einstein), but he always ended up getting out and then running right up to the back door to get back in the house/yard again. Unfortunately, we had to put Sammy down before his time in 2004 because we were unable to control his epilepsy. But we hope that his 6 years with us were as good for him as they were for us.
